Created a wee script in /root/my-applications/bin called 'zoom', with the following contents:- #!/bin/sh # # Start 'Zoom' client # run-as-spot /opt/zoom/ZoomLauncher I did that, after downloading step's SFS of the zoom software, and putting it into the home directory of a newly installed BionicPup6...

Mike Walsh: I tried out Vivaldi-portable. The is a lot to like about Vivaldi. However, I encountered one really strange deal breaker. The UI of Vivaldi is different from what I am used to, but I could accept that. When I installed Vivaldi-portable, it offered to import my setting from Firefox, and a...

To my chagrin, I discovered that I had installed zoom on a laptop with no camera. I have now installed it on one that does have a camera and can confirm that it works under BionicPup64.

You are right! I never even noticed the blue icon in the systray. I am going to have to spend a little more time trying to learn Zoom.

There is a link on the sign in page that says "sign up free" if you click that, then you can sign in with Google (a bit screwy?).

I'm running the SFS on xenial64 (just installed this morning and haven't actually joined in meetings yet). The only problem I have noticed so far is that it does not close properly. If I run it then close it (by clicking the "x" in the upper right corner of the window, the only way I can s...

It could be something I did, although I didn't think so at the time. My memory is probably worse than yours (I'm 78).

I tried Vivaldi (64 bit) about a year ago. Once I got used to it, I liked it, However, without any warning (and for no known reason), it suddenly deleted ALL of my saved logins/passwords.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm using BionicPup32 right now. It came with the Ulight browser pre-installed. Unfortunately, I took an instant dislike to Ulight. Using Ulight, I downloaded Seamonkey and extracted it into /opt. To start it, the command is /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey. If Ulight is not working for you, either your ins...

I installed portable wine 3.3 yesterday on a machine running tahrpup 6.0.6 (32 bit). I have encountered two problems and would like some advice. 1. I need to install msjet40.dll. I have tried copying it into the system32 folder, but it does not get recognized by my program (AB2000.exe). I also tried...

Right after I posted, I found a solution, although I don't understand why it worked. I reinstalled mesa-utils (although they were already installed). Then ran the video wizard and restarted the graphical server. I decided to try this after reading a post about a Ubuntu user who couldn't change his r...

Video resolution changed by power failure (Solved)

I had five computers running this morning (4 linux and 1 windows) when we had a momentary power glitch. Apparently, my UPS didn't do its job. The windows computer was a laptop and appears to be fine. The resolution on all 4 linux computers changed from 1920x1080 to 1024x768, and I have been unable t...

Why are you using MX-17? We are Puppy! Resistance is futile! That is a whole other subject and a long story :) I have a couple websites that I manage that are written in a CMS called typesetter. I prefer to edit them locally rather than at the hosting service. I have tried editing them with 5 diffe...

foxpup,

I had already tried what you suggested. No luck!

rufwoof,

I tried your method. It failed too, but with a "file not found" message.

So far, the only way I have been able to get MX to boot is to change the boot order in the bios so that it boots off /dev/sda.

It looks like I owe everyone an apology. I have another computer which has exactly the same setup, including the same menu.lst. The full install boots perfectly on that computer, so I can only conclude that the boot sector on /dev/sda has become damaged somehow. Unless I can repair that, nothing I c...

I tried the suggestions in the previous post, and they had no effect. However, it got me thinking; I realized I had overlooked what may be the root cause of the problem: /dev/sdb (which is where grub4dos is located) is a 1TB drive with MBR partition table and boot sector. /dev/sda (where MX-17 is lo...
