From my experience with Puppy, the only thing that is required to get the default wvdial (1.42)working is a proper /etc/wvdial.conf file. Before writing this post, I booted into 2.15CE Live and copied my /etc/wvdial.conf file into the live session. I then went to Start Menu>Network>WvDial modem dial...

wget -c URL
to resume a download
I use it alot, works great in any Linux distro, especially for those of us restricted to dialup.

Smartlink modem

Can anyone confirm that the Archtek (Smartlink) 5618PSV modem is supported in Puppy 2.15CE?

It is reported to have driver support in various Linux distros and I'm considering buying one to use in my Freespire/Puppy box.

How to change rxvt (console) background color, font?

Is there an rc file somewhere in Puppy 215 for the Rxvt console where I can adjust the font and background color to better suit these tired old eyes of mine?

I would probably try something like:
Modem Wizard>Erase
Modem Wizard>ttyS0
GKdial>Add and reset the connect info again, making sure that the Preferences>modem device is set to ttyS0 (if that is in fact what you are using).

About an hour ago, I booted into 215CE and went to this forum with Seamonkey and for the first time was not already looged in as GoogleBot. I was able to log in as myself. STRANGE BEHAVIOR, to say the least. BTW I really enjoy using this CE version and want to thank all who labored to make it availa...

oops......it is GoogleBot. I can't log out and back in. When I try, I get "Not Authorised". When I open the forum page, I'm logged as "GoogleBot" and the only link at the top that will open is FAQ.

Looks like git-ur-dun won't this time :)

I don't know where this "Google Bot" came from and I can't get rid of "him". I've been running various flavors of Linux for several years but this is beyond my ability to figure out. a. on live cd session b. on 215CE and 214 C. on 3 different computers d. but works in XP Go confi...

Can't log into this forum in Puppy 2.15CE

I just started using 2.15CE this week. When I open this forum site in puppy's seamonkey, it has "Log out [ Google Bot] " at the top of page and no way to log in.

I'm posting this from WinXP with Firefox, which lets me in.

Any thoughts on a "fix"?

Best Regards, Ed
