Sata drives not recognized

I have a Lenovo with a bios date of April 2014. I wiped win8.1 from it and tried to install Slacko 5.7, but legacygrub2013 doesn't install anything properly on anything I've used it on, including my old IBM ThinkCentre with IDE drives. I turned to Puppy 5.2.8, which had the traditional grub installe...

Slacko 5.7 Network doesn't save settings - SOLVED

I've noticed that I have to keep setting up wlan0 every time I use this version, as it doesn't save it's settings when told to. Has anyone got an answer to this?

gnash & lightspark

It would be interesting to see how these work now. There are a lot of dependencies required for these due to the large number of formats played, and some are supported in GNASH, while others are supported by LIGHTFLASH. It would require both to replace FLASH entirely, but I believe the result will s...

Thunderbird Link

I checked every link in the installer and found them all to be broken. The message returned to me says the file (thunderbird pet) doesn't exist. Not sure where to proceed from here except source files, so I thought I'd mention it.

Downloaded the Slacko version. I'll try it out later. I'm sure others will greatly appreciate your efforts, as well as sharing these links to other versions.
Thanks again!

Installing to nand drive-SOLVED

Well, I checked the link provided and found I can put puppy on an SD card and leave it in place. This isn't an install to the original nand drive, but at least I don't have to put a USB stick in there or carry one around to use it, which is almost as good. I may even restore the OS I wiped from the ...

Installation

Is there a way to erase that infernal Sugar OS on the built-in flash drive and replace it with Puppy? All I've found so far is how to run Pup from USB sticks, which works great, by the way, but isn't what I was looking for. I'm not really interested in carrying USB sticks around for this to boot wit...

a REAL install onboard

Ok, I've tried the XO Pup, and it works nice from usb. What I really wanted, though, was to INSTALL this to the onboard flash drive with something like the universal installer, or another tool, not just run it from usb stick. Did I miss something somewhere, or is there just no way to erase that infe...

Win7 on netbook with linux

nooby, I have WinXP on my Acer Aspire One, and I never really deleted it on that netbook. I use puppy's GPARTED utility to shrink the NTFS (WinXP) partition, leaving a large blank space for my ext3 partition, into which I install Puppy from my USB CD/DVD drive. Of course, you don't need an external ...

Linux & Windows

I thought I should mention this, although it has been said before: When installing Windows and Linux/Unix alongside each other in dual/multi-boot installations, you'll find it works best if Windows is on the first partition. I don't know why, but it seems to like being first, and you'll save yoursel...

Puppies on Netboooks

I put Lucid Puppy 5.01 on my Acer Aspire One, an older ZG5 unit, which tri-boots with WinXP & Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat). I used puppy's GPARTED utility to shrink the windows partition and add linux ext3 partitions, then installed my linux distros into them. AFTER I installed all my chosen ...

Xastir APRS app

Thanks for taking time to compile it, ttuuxxx. I downloaded and installed on my 4.20 machine, but got a msg for a lot of missing dependencies. It won't start up on my system. I had to wonder....why did you compile on an older version of puppy? Is this what you normally run on your machine? I really ...

Xastar APRS package

I realize tht this thread is somewhat old, but I think it deserves some elaboration: The APRS variants, such as XASTAR & X-APRS are used to track the user's location and trajectory/course. It has use in search & rescue ops, as well as anything else you want to track, like a bike race, parade...
