I have an hp pavilion tx1000 and the mute button on the keyboard remains orange even after I press it. (and I keep trying ) any drivers or magic suggestions?

I can't get any sound on my HP TX 1000 laptop. The orange mute button is lit and pressing it doesn't activate the sound. Also it is a tablet PC and I wanted to try to get handwriting on it as well.

Hey everyone. I hate to be such a knob, but I am trying to learn how to configure my Laptop which I think is having driver problems. Can someone explain to me how I can put drivers in Linux for the HP Pavilion tx?
