thanks for the info muggins. There might be some useful stuff in those posts, although they all seem to be about sound not working in puppy, whereas mine works perfectly. The only problem i'm having is my sound seems to disappear upon reboot, even though the appropriate modules & everything get ...

aftera reboot, but before running the sound wizard, if you list what modules have been loaded, with lsmod , is snd-opl3sa2, or anything similar, listed? if not, does modprobe snd-opl3sa2 get it working? Here is the modules that are loaded: Module Size Used by usb_storage 83904 0 snd_mixer_oss 17328...

Yeah i've tried playing music in xmms & other audio programs & running games that have sound, I turned everything up in the mixer but still no difference (& yes my volume dial is turned all the way up) I took a look in before.txt & there was nothing there. I ran the ALSA wizard &...

I really like the paw logo, as it has a kind of double message, like dasch pointed out. One the one hand its a puppy paw, & the other it is like a bunch of people together (representing the friendly community that PL has.) I really like this idea. On the other hand though, it isn't the most orig...

Well, the spoon is not sure to be honest  In what way would it be dangerous? Could it mess up my hd install? I would probably run from the cd if it were a faster option for me but as it stands a HD install is much more suited to my laptop, as it is fairly old. Also, the cd drives are quite hard...

...I didn't know whether to laugh or not while watching that video. It was almost... embarrasing

I think he forgot where he actually was, & thought he was some kind of rockstar working the crowd or something

Cool dancing nevertheless

Just do a search on google & you'll find plenty of 'game makers' for linux.

I have no idea how you'd go about compiling them though, it shouldn't be too hard though depending on how many dependencies they require.

Hope that helps.

Well i've used wine on a slax live cd on my desktop pc, & that only has 128mb ram, & it ran fine.

But you're probably right raffy, you know more than me anyway.

A swap partition should do the trick like you said.

As you are currently running from ram that may well be why you are having problems. I think you are right about the save file allowing you to run from the cd & not completely from your ram. http://208.109.22.214/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=1860272719&t=17359&sid=4392784036ab54470ebd596...

Hey just wondering if it's possible to do this when puppy is installed on the HD? Or is there any software that can make a bootsplash. I know other linux distros have software where you can edit the bootsplash, this is a feature i'd really like to have in puppy.
