Disregard, got it sorted. What I ended up doing was installing bash4, compiling with that, and copying the resulting executable to /usr/bin. Well, I'm not sure why that happened, but here's a copy of the 2.1.2-bacongui. Cheers, Thanks, I can use it, I'll work on it and see what's up with it. From Ge...

Possible bug in Racy video driver?
Barry, Edit: The xorg.conf work-around shown above fixed it. Edit 2: It was back this morning.... I did a full hard disk install of Racy 5.5 with the updates on my Toshiba laptop. It's awesome fast and everything works. (Thank you for this!) But I ran into a problem that made me think something was ...

Ok, it looks like it has to compile from bacon.bash using bash 4 or bash above 3. Attached is the Bacon-2.1.2 binary below, in case anyone would like it. Bacongui still starts slowly first time. Cheers, s Thank you for that. I downloaded and extracted it, then renamed the file that was in /usr/bin ...

Bacongui
How do I get Bacongui installed in Racy? I downloaded and compiled BaCon, and am able to compile and run the examples from the web page using Geany. But when I try to compile Bacongui, it fails, maybe because the version of Bash is 3.0 and it needs 4? There is a Pet for 4, I installed it, but it say...

When the Win7 trial versions were available we didn't have any problems resizing 7 and dual booting with Puppy or Ubuntu (full installs) using Legacy Grub. A system repair disk or usb is easy to make in Win7 and would be a good thing to have. Before making the system unbootable! I'll research this,...

If the Puppy universal installer is guaranteed to break booting on Vista or Win7 machines, shouldn't it warn the user???? Windows 7 declared war on GRUB. Then again, Microsoft is a known anti-competitive convict, what can one expect? And leopards don't change spots either. After resizing and partit...

I got a PM from a generous person with the following: Hi there thought i'd share a simple way of adding multibooting i did with vista recently and should apply to windows 7 too. This uses grub4dos...if you are familiar with it then the main file is called grldr .... you need this. Go to the root of ...

Thanks, Sunburnt. Didn't mean to reignite the debate, but in a nutshell, I prefer a full install because it boots faster, there is no ambiguity on which files are where so the system doesn't crash when it runs out of room if downloading accidentally to the wrong place, and the system doesn't crash f...

Step-by-step dual-boot install, Lupu 525 with Windows 7 ?
I've done a lot of puppy installs over the years, but work keeps me from keeping up as I would like. I'd like to do a full install of Lupu 525 on a brand new machine that has Windows 7 pre-installed. Actually, two of them. (Tried it once on one of them and failed, never had time to go back and fix i...

Test Report
pfix=ram Booted OK on Toshiba S300 EZ1511 laptop. Found atheros wireless OK. Sound was muted, fixed with alsamixer which showed speaker at zero. Seamonkey is nice, works good, got flash, youtube works. Unable to find driver for the Intel 4500 M graphics. Did a bunch of searching and found a pet, ins...

Some noob questions.
@ttuuxxx, I'll download and test today. It's the least I can do to in return for all the work you put in for the rest of us. I want to thank you for all the hard work you put into all these packages. Please don't give up on helping with the 'other' version. We all need your input, even if it seems a...

Flash cache
Lobster, I see Bigpup came up with the same question I had. Flash has its own cache settings (privacy, too). They are accessed via a flash control. http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager06.html Careful with this; I was fooling with it in 5.11 to try to d...

Downloading now to test, thanks to you all for your excellent work. On the full install subject, please keep it as an option. My reasons for requesting, which might not be valid on newer versions but were learned on older versions: 1) Faster boot (maybe not?) 2) No ambiguity about where you are savi...

Wireless won't connect
md5sum checked the iso after burning slow, it checks out. Boot pfix=ram with wary-098. lspci reports Atheros wireless card, same as in Quirky (in which wireless works). Doesn't matter which network wizard is used. Tried the simple one and the classic one. Access points are detected. Attempting to co...

Did you, yes or no, use the puppysearch link in my sig. In seconds I found quite some posts about the subject. You could also post (and see) in the Quirky bugs thread in the BUGS section. Or you could PM Barry. Yes, that page is my default search tool for Puppy. Did read thru the Quirky bugs. Buggi...
