I have the same USB Flash Drive you must delete the files that came on it or copy them to your hard drive. You can not have any files on the USB stick or it will not boot right. Then you must format it as FAT 16. Also you cannot run Puppy off the cd on the same machine. If you do you will need to de...

It almost seems like the USB Flash Drive has to be totally empty and freshly formatted in order for this to work. If you have any other data on the Flash Drive it seems to mess it up. If you had any other data on the Flash Drive it will not work untill you format it. I seem to have to format 2 times...

Yeah I already did that. I searched the forum and read all the stuff about Flash Puppy I could. I think the cheap Flash Drives are a problem as one commited suicide when I tried to load Flash Puppy from it. Wal Mart will probably give me a new one if I take it back  The other 1 Gig Flash Drive ...

I picked up a SanDisk 1gib Flash Drive so I'll give it a try and see if its more reliable that the El Cheapos that I got to start with :? I just got those to see how Flash Puppy worked and to use as floppy disks if nothing else. I have not had any problems accessing files on the Simple Tech Flash Dr...

 Well Whoop De DO it worked this time on the PC that gave me a hard time to start with. This is Puppy 1.0.5. Now to see if it works on any other PC  This may have something to do with the Flash Drive as I picked up a couple at Wal Mart for cheap. I may get a better quality (more expen...

Well this is Puppy CD on one of the offending PC's. Seems to work OK. It can not find the usr_cram.fs and puts up the red message that X will not load. Same USB device works fine on another PC. The usr_cram.fs is on the USB device as I can see it there if I look. I also cannot mount the USB Flash Dr...

USB Flash Drive only boots Puppy on 1 computer
After some messing around and reading all of the info here on USB Flash Puppy I still have some questions. 1st) Does the Flash drive have to be used on the system it was built on? It works fine on that PC but on others with diffrent amounts of drives it never loads X. 2nd) Is it the fstab that is ca...

 The USB boot thing seems a little flaky for some reason. I can get it to boot on one PC all the time. I finaly got it to boot on another but the Flash Drive had to be in a USB port when I went into the BIOS to set it to boot but it does not load X for some reason. On another PC it just ignor...

USB flash drive install script needs newer syslinux version
After looking around on the forum I found that there may be a problem with the version of syslinux that is used by default on the Install Puppy USB Card option. I had tried this and it would not work even with the use of the boot USB from floppy. I downloaded the latest version of syslinux and did a...
