Why did Hillary climb Everest?

I was just exploring its usability. I have a couple of older PC's, but not on hand at my location for testing.

Legacy OS 2 in Virtualbox

Hi all Played with this puppy for a while trying many different settings to get to boot inside virtualbox4.x. No joy so far - it presents a black screen and no disk activity whatsoever when trying to set xorg. :( Xvesa produces an illegible 8-color desktop, but no interaction. So far I have changed ...

Synergy

Howdy moret, Sorry, it was so long ago I posted that, I have forgotten what I did to get it working. It CAN be done; I had a 3 desktop setup running LinuxMint-Puppy-WinXP IIRC I had Synergy "hosted" on Mint, with Puppy & XP as "clients" I have switched over to virtual machine...

thanks for the info

I will send him a cd with Puppy 2.17, and see if I can talk him through the wireless config. On my own lapdog, puppy remembering the wifi settings seems to depend on which NIC I am using. My SMC (using ralink driver) has been flawless, but a no-name USB wifi I have tried requires prodding each time....

Compaq C500 & puppy

I need to get a linux distro that will install & run without grief or tweaking needed. My very non-techie brother has this laptop, and I setup dual-boot with vista & ELIVE. The ONLY reason he had Vista was the wifi, otherwise it would have been 100% linux. Well, now it seems that something o...

3D woes

Well I guess I don't get to play with 3D acceleration.

Are there any 3D FPS that don' rely on OpenGL? (ie like early Doom, Unreal Tournament....)

thanks

3d games

I do not know how to enable OpenGL. I tried to install opengl a few weeks back on a desktop machine, but had no luck.

Also, I setup ezpup on my laptop, and the installer has those game listed, but often multiple *.pup's for each. Do I have to install every related .pup?

Regards

ra0 wireless ra2400 driver/SMC PCCMCIA

Hello from Northern BC I was reading this thread with interest, as I have an SMC PCCard wireless that works (thats how I posted here) but I do not get full recognition of this as a wireless NIC in the network wizard. The first time I connected to my router, I had to specify a static IP, and treat it...

I can't work miracles Sage

I assume you meant older Pentium I ....... this Pana is PII 366 w/192MB RAM. Now if I can just find a (proprietary) harddisk connector cable for it, I could make it a permanent install......I got this really cheap on ebay, and it even included the gel-pack for the HDD, but no connector. I am almost ...

Thanks for the help!!

Raffy, just wanted to say thank you for the pointers you provided :D I would likely have dropped this project (PXE was already doing the basics we needed; this was icing on the cake) as I am not likely to have dug deep enough to find that article on building the humungous initrd myself. Next step: F...
