Updating from Puppy 3.00 on Sony PCG-431L
I have version 3.00 running on this Sony PCG-431L. I remember it was a pain to install due to the PCMCIA DC drive. There were various boot parameters that I do not remember and now cannot find on the forum. So, a couple questions: 1. Does anyone remember the boot parameters that will make this run t...

gtkpod and iPod Shuffle?
My wife just won an iPod Shuffle. I can put stuff on it using my laptop with gtkpod and Fedora 6. Since her machine is smaller, she's running Puppy Linux. gtkpod can't find the iPod. I suspect it has to do with Puppy not automounting the usb drive while Fedora 6 does. Is this correct? What do I do t...

Browser does not open from desktop on puppy 3
Just installed puppy 3. Clicking browser on the desktop gives a brief hard drive flash, but does not open the browser. Clicking email DOES open sea monkey email. I can then use the window menu to open the browser. This worked properly on the previous version (2.17 or something like that). I copied t...

I haven't tried the upgrade yet, so I don't know. The entire drive is devoted to Puppy Linux (no windoze). It'd be nice if the puppy installer on the desktop could just download and install the upgrade like it does with other puppy packages, but I haven't seen anything about that. I'll go ahead and ...

Upgrade procedure?
I currently have 2.71 installed on the hard drive and now see that 3.00 is available. Before I download it, is there documentation somewhere on how to do the upgrade? Can it be done over the network with a pup install? Or, is there an upgrade option (as opposed to install) on the CD from ISO? I'd li...

Trying the new Realtek driver with the M1 version of the DWL-650 behaves the same as when I tried it under nidswrapper. It found the local networks, but when I started DHCP, the machine crashed. So, I'm back on the A1-J3 version, which the bootup code finds on the pcmcia. SOMETIMES it works perfectl...

I went ahead and tried NDIS wrapper with a more recent DWL-650 (V.M1). I used the driver for pciid: 10ec:8180 (ftp://ftp.targetgroup.it/digicom/comuni/driver/PalladioWaveC/PalWavC__WIN.zip). Both the network wizard and RutilT properly scan and find networks, but, on both of them, when I tell them to...

THANKS for all the help (and doing the forum search). I've gotten the DWL-650 to connect to the WEBP encrypted network sometimes, but most times it does not. Looking at /var/log/messages, and comparing between a successful boot startup of the card and the nonsuccessful start, I see the unsuccesful o...

D-Link DWL-650
I'm working on getting Puppy Linux working on my wife's Sony Viao PCG-SR-27. I've done the hard drive install and am writing this from that machine, using the DWL-650. Using the "Connect to internet using network interface" menu, I can connect to open access points, but not to our WEP encr...

I did a re-install of Puppy Linux, and things are definitely better! I can run the network wizard thingee, scan for networks, and connect. But, when I tell the system to use that the next time it boots, it seems to mess up. In fact, it messes up badly enough that the network wizard won't find anythi...

This is a DWL-650 that is maybe 10 years old. I've used it under Red Hat and Fedora with no trouble (and without ndiswrapper). I'll dig in to this a bit more tonight and post the error messages, if any. Using the standard Puppy Linux setup, it LOOKS like it's connecting to my network (boot screen sa...

Dlink DWL650 Wifi driver loads, but can't connect
I just set up a Sony Vaio notebook on Puppy Linux. Very impressive! I'm using a dLink DWL650 (I think that's the number) wireless card, which Puppy Linux recognizes properly. During bootup, I see it the card getting initialized, and the LED on the card goes on steady, just as it does when there is a...
