Installing puppy on imac
Many thanks to everyone who helped. I thought I'd posted my reply, but can't see it on the forum.: so here it is, briefly: I'm not yet very familiar with the imac, so i'm reluctant to do anything with the hard disc partition. So I'm waiting a while before i try anything. I can use Virtualbox, so I a...

I have just changed from PC to a desktop all-in-one iMac. I had a frugal installed puppy (slacko) on the PC. Can I do a frugal install on my Imac? If so, how? I'm not yery familiar with my iMac, so simple directions would be much appreciated.

Finding the compiler
Thanks Semme. Re the Dlink dongle: rerwin took up the issue and had a solution, but meanwhile I took the cowardly way out and took the dongle back to the store. I replaced it with a Digitech 802.11N dongle which uses the realtek driver and works with Barry's simple network wizard. So I'm happy. I'll...

How to install a gcc compiler?
I want to install the SCIM packages, but I think they have to be compiled after extraction. From which site do I download the compiler, and are there any instructions about how to use it, or is it straightforward?
I am using lupuplus (528), frugal install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

D-Link wireless adapter
I just posted the message below to Users forum - just realised it should be here: I'm desperate! Frugal-installed Lucid Puppy 528 can't see the D-Link DWA125 wireless adapter. I checked the web to see if there was a linux driver for it - but no luck. I also tried the drivers listed in the network wi...

Wireless adapter not recognised
I'm desperate! Frugal-installed Lucid Puppy 528 can't see the D-Link DWA125 wireless adapter. I checked the web to see if there was a linux driver for it - but no luck. I also tried the drivers listed in the network wizard. Before, I had a Netcomm adapter that worked OK using ndiswrapper, (until it ...

connecting to network
Thanks guys. I changed the encryption mode on the router, and also downloaded and ran the "squeeze" stuff. Now I'm connected to the Internet, despite using ndiswrapper and an old NetComm usb dongle! :D All I need to do now is work out how to connect to the printer on PCB. At the moment I h...

How to connect Puppy to network?
Thanks everyone for your help. I have been away, so haven't tried the suggestions, or the requests for more info. I am going to check out, and change if necessary, the settings on the landline modem connected to PCB, as suggested by tempestuous . I'll post result - hopefully it will work. If that fa...

The dongle is a NetComm Wireless LAN USB adaptor, 54Mbps. The model is NP544. I couldn't find it in the lists in the wizard, so I have always used it with ndiswrapper, and that was fine while connected to the wireless router (incidentally, puppy was not then networked to PCB). The connection problem...

The problem is: how to connect PCA to the internet, when PCA is running Lucid Puppy 528. The Vista PCB is connected to the internet via a landline - no problem there. I'm now thinking I should network PCA's Puppy to the Vista PCB, instead of trying to connect Puppy to the router.Trouble is, I don't ...

How to connect Puppy to network? (Solved)
PCA & PCB run Windows Vista. PCA, under Vista, connects to PCB and to Internet. Please see attachment diagram. PCA when running frugal install of LuPu5.2.8 (also tried Perfect Puppy) finds there is wlan0, but cannot connect. Prior tp PCB being connected to the landline, it was connected via a wi...

Cannot connect to router
I have a frugal install of Lupu 528 on my PC (call it PCA) that runs Vista. The PCA is networked, via a USB dongle, to another PC (call it PCB)。 PCB is connected by a cable to a router which is cabled to my landline. The router also has a wireless antenna. PCA accesses PCB and the Internet with no p...

Printing to Neworked Windows PC
I have tried CUPS wizard (in frugal LUPU 528). My HP Deskjet is connected by cable to a Windows PC (call it PC1). Puppy is on a second PC (call it PC2). PC2 is networked to PC1. When I print from PC2 in Windows mode (i.e not in frugal Puppy), it accesses PC1 and prints. However, when I am using Pupp...

Shutting down Lucid 528
Lucid Puppy 528 runs extremely well. Just recently the menu items "Power off computer" and "Reboot computer" don't work. I can shutdown only by pressing Ctl-Alt-Backspace. MyPuppy is a frugal install on WinVista machine, plus Chrome browser, Open Office, and Chinese (Scim) input....

How to move Puppy from USB HD to frugal on main Win drive?
I have Puppy 4.3.1 on a USB hard drive - full install - works beautifully. I would like to transfer it, as a frugal install, to a my Vista PC hard drive. Can I do this and transfer everything, including stuff saved? If so, how? There's data I don't want to lose, and set-ups I don't want to have to r...
