simargl captioned: alphaOS [closed] :o  :( http://alphaos.tuxfamily.org/ and https://sourceforge.net/projects/alphaos/files are all non-existent any more! Is that the end of the road for alphaOS? That seems too bad unless you have a good reason to do so. Enquiring minds want to know why.,, Ch...

simargl wrote: Gnome Mplayer is using dark gtk3 theme by default ... To fix it, you can remove gtk-dark.css from gtk3 themes directory. Thanks for the tip. Perhaps, the path to this file must also be clearly stated to guide the common user. That is, /usr/share/themes/Alpha/gtk-3.0/gtk-dark.css . Che...

Hi simargl, Thanks for V10 with the various enhancements. Will give it a spin as soon after it is fully uploaded. It is also refreshing to note that frantic efforts are going on to revive ARM although it might end up with a different name. --------------------- Just checked http://sourceforge.net/pr...

Hi yr1945, Good to know that you've made some progress :) . It seems you have been able to install cups correctly. Next task is how your printer can print with cups. If you can see the name of your printer on the cups printers interface then, it seems cups recognizes your printer. In that case, ther...

Hi yr1945, Running sh install.sh installs everything in the package. No need to copy over the folders again. 1. You need to be sure that /etc/init.d/cups is a link to /usr/bin/cupsd. If not, create that link first. You may have to rename or delete any cups found in /etc/init.d before creating the li...

Just to confirm that wireless connection now works with the new alphaOS 9. Still had to add iwldvm to modules line in /etc/rc.conf though. Wired and wireless printing/scanning also work with my modified version of rcrsn51's cups 1.4.8 printing package found here . For those of you that printing/scan...

Hi simargl, Thanks for yet another masterpiece of alphaOS now at V9! :) Writing from it now. However, for my wireless internet to work, I had to copy iwlwifi files from /lib/firmware in 8.0 to 9.0 as suggested by marv and then put iwldvm and mac80211 in the modules line in /etc/rc.conf before making...

Hi tony and all, Pardon my ignorance but if wl wifi is the same as iwlwifi, then as per Marv's: If wireless is intel iwlwifi, to get wlan0, you have to modprobe iwldvm and mac80211. I place them in the modules line in /etc/rc.conf. This has been confirmed by scooby to work on page 38 of this thread....

I am able to print/scan on both wired and wireless printer connections using this package. Thanks rcrsn51 :D. Here is the link if you want to try it: print_sc...

Most of the Pwireless problems can be resolved when one uses Frisbee instead. I pulled out all of Frisbee's files from Barry's raring-3.8.4.2 and made a pet which I installed in alphaOS V7 with ppet. Of course, the files can be copied over manually to their respective folders in alphaOS if one doesn...

@ scooby
When starting Pwireless2 I get a "Wireless interface not detected" message?
Have you tried this?
try to delete /var/run and make symbolic link: ln -s /run /var/run
as suggested by simargl on page 33 of this thread?

Cheers.
