Hallo mato

Viel Erfolg.

Hi stu90 couldn't have said it better than tasmod. You might want to try his menu.lst. One more thing, when you write Im running of puppy from USB flash drive i don't see any option for pfix=ram at boot, it just loads straight into a saved session. ...I suppose you have your pupsave files on your US...

Thank you sage for your additional wisdom (sage >>> wisdom LOL). No without joking, your points are well taken. But there are many roads that lead to Rome. In this case, yes it is advisable to have backups somewhere else but on your main hard drive. Yours is one solution. Yet with a frugal install y...

Hi Tui welcome to the wonderful world of Puppy bedded in a chaotic universe. I understand your confusion, but the regular Puppies have even stranger numbers. So don't even try to understand the system or to figure it out. There is no one person that would keep an eye on it and sort it all out. It is...

answer for Roy
Hi Roy: I am probably a bit off-topic here Yes you are, but I will be happy to give you some of my experiences with frugal installs of various Puppies. desire to completely wipe XP from his old Dell Inspiron 5100 (381MB of RAM) With 381 MB RAM and XP, that's entirely understandable. XP will only cra...

enhu at this point there are so many variables, that it is very hard to analyse them from here. I found out myself that to install Puppy without CD one needs to be VERY precise. These posts had been helpful to me: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=262324 http://pupweb.org/wikka/BootPa...

In that case see this post http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/puppy-71/how-to-make-the-icon-desktop-fonts-white-785896/ And for Roger: In case you are using ICEwm, change the theme via Start-settings-themes. CatDude, you are right about hda vs. sda. I just copied from my system, but enhu's is much older. And that seems to be the entire problem. There is a post here to a similar problem... http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=22255 So if I take that and enhu's setup into consideration, you (e...

This is getting complicated  Okay, let's try this. From 431 go to menu.lst and add to the kernel line behind psubdir=media a space and then this SFSFILE=ext3,sda3,/media/exactnameofyourpupinmedia.sfs To explain: ext3 stands for the file system on your sda3. If that is not ext3, then change it t...

enhu How did you install 431? Probably a full install on a Linux partition with grub? I assume this, because you have no CD drive anymore; so it can't be a frugal install with booting from CD. Okay then start your 431, check if your linux partition (/mnt/home) has at least 1 GB free space left. Crea...
