Installing GIMP help files and running out of space
I decided to learn GIMP and so got the pup and it installed OK. When I wanted to do a redeye patch I tried to look at the help and it wasn't there, so I went to the internet and got the help file which is 80 MB and it downloaded OK. I clicked it a few times and it came up with: "open with the d...

Grub wouldn't include Windows for Dual Boot with Puppy
Today I installed V3 of Puppy on to hard disk by saving it there at the end of my session. I then ran GRUB and tried to set up a dual boot which I had successfully done before without problem. However when I told GRUB about the WinXP system it came up with a big page of text that started with someth...

I didn't know which of the wine pets to get so tried wine.10.9.22.pup but irvanview does nothing now when I click it. Does anyo...

Well I am sending this message from puppy on hard disk. I did a search as suggested in the messages, but did not find any that had an extra line after the one mentioned. So I re-installed to disk (it is actually a linux install not just the 3 files) and it was just the same ... decided to use ps/2 r...

Oh, I mean that I used the puppy install to disk which copied the various files there and I made a 1 GB puppy whatsit file. The partition is actually ext2, is that significant? Anyway, I put the line of code in as you suggested... modprobe usbhid after booting from CD and rebooted. However it still ...

OK, the xwin started it up. It always says it didn't work the first time but does the second. Weird? But F12 did not activate the arrow keys. I tried both sets of arrows, the num ones and the others. I will try the change to rc.local now. I assume that I can do this from the CD boot, as it is using ...

Hello All. I am back to get seriously installed on Puppy and eventually get rid of XP. For now I am setting up a dual boot system with XP and Puppy on hard disk. I DLed the latest release puppy 2.15CE final and burned to CD. It booted OK and ran well although I couldn't find my printer (Canon Pixma ...

I got following programs working up to now: Opera Irfanview Pegasus Mail I haven't looked at Puppy for a while. I had a dual boot PC with winxp and linux, but got a rather nasty worm in winxp and had to trash the linux to recover. So interested to start catching up. My two favourite winxp programs ...

From the looks of line 12.....it's a tcl code. Click on Help in the start menu and look for tcl/tk. There's a code editor in the Word Processing menu and loads of web resources Help does not seem to show anything on tcl/tk. I can find nothing in pupget. In dotpup it has applications for tcl/tk, but...

What language is Lobster's welcome script and how to do that
Greetings, I got the little welcome script (is that the right name for it?) by Lobster so that I could learn about how this sort of menu making and stuff is done. It is a nice example - thanks Lobster - and I can easily follow what it does. I quote some of it below. I went to make a similar menu mys...

How to read Linux files from Windows in a dual boot system
I found this rather nice file system extender for installation in windows XP which lets you see the ext2 and ext3 file systems from windows XP (usually you can only look the other way). The site is http://www.fs-driver.org and the download is at http://www.fs-driver.org/download/Ext2IFS_1_10a.exe th...

The maximise from what I remember maximises any remaining space in a partition. In other words if you create one partition and write that with a set size and give the second partition an aprox size for the rest of the HD it will max out to use all available HD space. So you need to be careful if th...
