I have this problem as well. I have this working in my laptop with virtualization support enabled and check on enable vt for direct i/o (rebooted twice). I would like this working on my desktop however using the same ubuntu 12.04 64bit virtualbox but no bios for virtualization support.

no. I tried the normal one first. the 4.0 with 2.6.25 kernal was suppose to support more hardware which is why I stated i tried it as well. Guess I didn't state it clear enough.

Is there a 4.0 retro version?

Does anyone know if there is a 4.0 retro? I know there will be a 4.1 retro but I seem to have a problem with the new 4.0 dingo. I have an old compaq desktpro en PII400 who only works when using 3.01 retro. I tried 4.0 2.6.25 as well but it wouldn't boot. Anyone know of the chances the 4.1 would work...

I have the exact same error. I'm on a compaq deskpro using an creative dvd player. Anymore info on this? I'm going to try dsl or even xbuntu but I rather liked to have puppy on the system.
