Both Bionicpup64 and Xenialpup64 have a "firefox" script in /usr/bin that contains the appropriate "apulse firefox" startup command. This is the script called by the Firefox selection in the Internet menu. If you place an icon on your desktop to start Firefox and use something li...

Unexpected (by me) problem installing BionicPup64 8.0

I ran across a problem yesterday that I had never encountered before. I was installing BionicPup64 8.0 in the fashion I normally do. That is, I copy initrd, vmlinux, puppy_bionicpup64_8.0.sfs, and zdrv_bionicpup64_8.0 from the iso to a Bionicpup64 directory on my hard drive that I had previously cre...

Thanks, mostly_lurking. I asked the wrong question. What I really meant was 'does anyone know how to fix the programs?' You can also close any of the games by simply hitting the Esc key. However, I installed the 1.5 version you mentioned, and it does seem to work just fine. Solution to previous ques...

I just loaded smokey's 64-bit program into Xenialpup 7.5. It loads, and all the games run, but Canfield, Minesweeper, Taipei, TaipeiEdit, and a couple others initially load the border around the game board, but it almost instantly disappears. At that point the only way to end or cancel the game is t...

Just downloaded and installed the Cliqz extension in Firefox 62.0.2 (64-bit) running under Xenialpup 64. Looks good and seems to work just fine. Will test it for awhile before reaching a final decision.

I recently upgraded to Firefox 61.0.1 (32-bit) in Precise Puppy 5.7.1., and it would not run. Got the error cited by watchdog. Installed the copy of libdbus he references and now it runs fine.

Slow browsing, email in 64-bit puppies

I do not understand what is happening. Seamonkey 2.22 in Racy 5 is blindingly fast. Seamonkey-portable 2.48 is reasonably fast in Precise 571. But I have tried Palemoon, Firefox, Google-chrome, and Thunderbird in both 64-bit Tahrpup 606 and 64-bit Xenialpup 75. They are agonizingly slow, so slow I h...

Installing flatpack files

Inkscape-0.92.2 is now available and being distributed (https://inkscape.org/en/release/0.92.2/) as a "flatpak" (inkscape-0.92.2.flatpak). Is there a way to install flatpak files in Puppy, especially Tahrpup-64 6.05? I think this is supposed to be a "universal" format.

Crippled dpkg? Installing Samsung ULD

Has the version of dpkg used in tahrpup-64 6.05 (or other versions of Puppy) been deliberately crippled? In attempting to load Samsung's ULD for my M2070 printer/scanner, I get an error message in response to this line: ARCH="$(dpkg --print-architecture)" stating that the command is not av...

Mike, the OpenSCAD sfs files you put together are running fine. The 32-bit in Precise 571 and the 64-bit in Tahrpup 605. As near as I can determine, 3D drawing programs are pretty much built the way you suggest; they let you tie together a bunch of simple shapes to create more complex objects. The s...

Thanks a lot, Mike. I shall give the 64-bit version a try.

Downloaded both. Just successfully ran the 32-bit version in Precise5.7.1.

Will try the 64-bit later.

Thanks again, Mike.

3D printing for Tahrpup

For those of you wanting to start 3D printing, you can now do it from Tahrpup64. Download Cura from here: https://ultimaker.com/en/products/ultimaker-cura . Cura is a cross-platform scaler, rotator, and slicer that prepares 3D drawings in the popular STL format for printing on a variety of natively ...

I'd like to suggest a small change to how the on-the-fly sfs mounter/dismounter works. I would find it convenient if BOOTCONFIG were copied to BOOTCONFIG.save immediately whenever an sfs is added or deleted. I am in the habit of copying the Puppy save file to another partition as a backup when I am ...

Bigpup, I have used versions of Chromium from 43 to 55, Google Chrome 55, and Iron 55. Have installed them as sfs files and as pets. Even manually installed Chromium at one point. Tahrpup64-6.0.5 for 64-bit versions and Precise-5.7.1 for 32-bits. Have also tried 32-bit versions in Tahrpup64-6.0.5 wi...

Cursor locks up in Chrome, Chromium or Iron

If I install Chrome, Chromium, or Iron, 32 or 64 bit, Puppy Precise 5.7.1 or Tahrpup64-6.0.5, any of them appear to install correctly, and start to run. But the minute I click on any function in the header/toolbar like "Customize", the cursor locks up and won't move. The mouse, however con...
