Epson printer drivers
Thank you. I knew the printer was out of ink, but I didn't know which one (there are 6 separate inks). The windows software will tell you when an ink cartridge is empty. I gave up and installed the printer on my husband's windows laptop, just to use the epson status monitor. I was able to identify w...

Epson printer drivers
I used the CUPS printer wizard which comes with Puppy. The printer has stopped working because it's presumably out of one of its inks. I've no way of knowing which one. I downloaded gutenprint.pet from one of the forums, but I don't know how to proceed from there. Typing the commands you suggest jus...

My printer, Epson Stylus Photo R220 is not included in the list. I need to be able to monitor the ink levels and hoped you package would make life simpler. Thanks!

UK spellchecker in Abiword
Here is my fix: 1.Put the British English dictionary files en_GB.aff and en_GB.dic in /usr/share/hunspell 2. Replace en_US.aff and en_US.dic with symlinks of the same name to en_GB.aff and en_GB.dic . 3. Spell checker will now actually use the British English dictionary, although it will not say so...

Thank you for the explanations. Being a resourceful old woman, I'm firm friends with Google, and Wikipedia as well, but all those words make my head spin somewhat. Mikeb's instructions suit my learning pace somewhat better; I'll give them a try, though what I'm supposed to link to what to make Abiwo...

That didn't work I'm afraid. By renaming the .awt files in the template folder(s) I have successfully changed the default template to English UK, so the default language is already British English. I would have thought Abiword would default to the British English dictionary as well - however all tha...

Well, strangely enough I was able to play a DVD without sound problems. A CD sounded bad, as did a WAV file saved on my hard drive. Also get bad sound reproduction in TiMidity. The sound is fine in XP, and also good using a live version of Kubuntu, so I don't think there's a problem with the laptop....

Horrible quality sound, SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio
Puppy barks, but when I come to play music the sound quality is wobbly and bad. Running Puppy 4.11 from a live Cd on HP compaq nc4010 laptop, 1,592MHz processor, 480Mb RAM. Alsa configurator identifies soundcard as ali5451. How can I improve the sound?
Thanks, Sarah

Thank you so much for the script. Unfortunately I wasn't able to try it out because Windows died spectacularly the next day and I had to reformat the entire computer...of course Puppy came to the rescue retrieving my husband's files, but I'm now forbidden to bring Linux anywhere near his computer! IceWM crashes system when I restart X (SOLVED)
I am running Puppy 3.01 off a live CD and added IceWM. Whenever I try to restart X the whole system crashes and I have to reset the computer. Is there a fix for this?
