Colonel Panic makes an interesting point regarding Office packages and short notes. In the Windows world I have always used Wordpad for short notes and Office for documents. I also use notepad for one or 2 liners that don't need formatting or as a temporary storage for something I will transfer to a...

This guy used the windows installer, which provides grub4dos in a form that interacts with the Windows bootloader, so the answer should reflect that. The answer is yes, you can move Puppy to D: Before telling you what to do we need a bit of info. Using Windows, can you find the file menu.lst? It is ...

Bringing up the terminal enables you to type commands on the command line.

The icon on the desktop that looks like a monitor with possibly a bit of green lettering on a black screen background. Click that and you have brought up the terminal.

I am glad you have solved the ntfs problem but there is something I don't understand. I use FAT Slacko which appeared AFTER Feb 2012. It is frugally installed on an NTFS hard drive with a save file in the same directory as the sfs files. I do not have a network. According to previous discussion thos...

You'll have to forgive me guys. I only use this facility occasionally. You are right - it is the right button one uses, not the left as I said. I can remember how cool I thought this was when I first read it on the forum years ago. So much easier than how to move a misplaced window in that OTHER ope...

the last saviour You want Knoppix with english menu and no Deustch voice? Then get the english iso for the DVD version. I know it is huge. I don't download it. I get it off Linux Magazine cover disk. The latest Knoppix version is on the current issue - although I guess it might not be available in T...

Thanks Wognath for finding that little gem. I wondered whether that trick would work with Vista/Windows 7. I could see no reason why it shouldn't but was too scared of messing things up to try! Since my original posts in this thread I have now got Windows 7 and very recently started dual booting Pup...

On the bar at the bottom of the screen you see a mini pictorial representation of the desktops in puppy. One of them will have a rectangle in the place where your Eudora window is. Use your left mouse button and drag the little rectangle down. Eudora will move on the main screen in a similar manner.

Don't start a separate thread in this forum unless you are announcing a new puppy derivative. Bugs are usually dealt with in the Bugs forum but ... With a derivative the best approach is to add a post to the end of the thread that discusses the derivative. You might like to consider providing the fo...

Hi Vobbino, 666philb response to your query is, of course, correct but perhaps doesn't clarify things. The Linux filesystem and the way Linux sees EVERYTHING including hardware as a point in the filesystem tree is different from the way other OS like Windows work. Consequently, it can be a little ha...

The upcoming clash between Slacko and Precise is a bit stupid but 01Micko did bag 5.4 first. Why didn't Barry bring Precise at 5.5? There is little coordination between Puppy developers of the mainstream pups. They each do their own thing and that is how they want it. This numbering silliness is jus...

A comment on Sickgut's last post Science and Religion are different in one respect. True Science tries to prove its conjectures by experiment. They have all got quirks but Office 97 is/was optimum. Microsoft have dropped down the curve in every version since. The only problem with Office 97 is that it is not available for Linux! I vote for something that does not exist: LibreOffice97 - An Office97 clone for Windows/Linux with odf as default.

Which Puppy are you using?

How did you activate tapping and scrolling?

On most modern Puppies one uses flsynclient to provide this functionality, which is turned off by default, but different tweaks may be required depending on the Puppy used.

Great work npierce.

I have noticed the behaviour and used flsynclient to sort myself out. Now I know why it happens. You must have spent a lot of time researching and checking code.

Thanks for that.

Re: Booting

ICPUG, This may be a red herring, but looking at your last post did you actually use: PMEDIA= or pmedia= Similarly did you use: PDEV1= or pdev1= If the former in both cases, puppy may have simply ignored those boot codes, relied on its own search algorithms and come to the right or wrong conclusion...
