New Seamonkey and .json

This is a known bug with the later versions of Seamonkey in that it does not recognize .json bookmark backups when trying to restore your bookmarks. When I decide to use a newer version of Puppy, I normally restore my bookmarks with a backup of them from a prior version of Seamonkey. But now Seamonk...

I voted No. I consider Puppy to be a hobbyist's distro, fine for someone who likes to change their own oil, not so good for someone who doesn't care to lift the hood and get their hands dirty. People who want their computer to be an appliance rather than a hobby are better served by sticking to one...

B.K. is the one that decided to use the new installation method steering away from ISOs. It is a full install with no pupsave too. And it hurts for those that want to try a Puppy version before they install it anywhere. To be able to check out the new versions, one has to install them to a drive or ...

One of the failings with Windows registry is that some applications do not remove themselves completely from the registry. A case in point is trying to uninstall Norton Antivirus. I had to physically scan the registry to try to completely remove all of the crap that Norton uninstall had left. There ...

When using Puppy, could one add "Do not install Wine"?
I have wondered if Wine could be used to install Windows malware that would infect any windows partition that was mounted.
And this is thinking along the lines of Wine being a utility made to run Windows applications in linux.

I wore a heart monitor for 48 hours and the nurse that applied the contact pads used an alcohol pad to clean the areas and then sandpaper to rough up the area so the contact pads would stick better.
The sandpaper thing was completely new to me.

We can knock Windows. But as long as you do not use it for anything having to do with the internet, it is good for playing games that do not work with linux and also, word processing if you do not go beyond Microsoft Office Professional 97. If I remember correctly, some later versions would want to ...

We have members on the forum that offer Bible study software.
But they do not start discussions asking anyone's opinion on Biblical events and their views on political or social activity.
And they do not try to convert anyone to their beliefs.

Puppy's DistroWatch position

I noticed on visiting DistroWatch that Puppy Linux is now at 27 in it's click rating. I realize those ratings are figured from the interest (number of clicks) a distro gets. But is this lower rating due to no new versions of Puppy being submitted? Or is people's interest in Puppy going to the dogs s...

A common sight on our freeways. These are towed convoys of vehicles being bought at USA car auctions and then towed south with home made 3 vehicle tow hookups. Vehicles in all sorts of wreckage conditions. They are going to Latin American Countries that need vehicles. http://www.grangerlandrfd.com/...

If you want to know about some virus or malware, you might check out bleepingcomputer.com.
They helped me get rid of some malware that showed as Windows Antivirus.
And it was involved in removing that completely.
This was on a PC running Windows Vista.

As per bigpup's post, it seems that an updater wanting to install an older version of an application over a newer version of the same application goes against what an updater is supposed to do. To me, the red x icon as a replacement for the green dot also is nice in that a click on that icon on a mounted drive/partition also unmounts it.
I thought I would mention that feature as no one else has done so.
