Hi Jody Thornton As mentioned Puppy 5.7.1 is available with PAE enabled or 5.7.1 - retro, which is non-pae. The non-pae version has a slightly earlier kernel, many more drivers, and includes Opera browser in addition to Seamonkey browser. It is good for earlier ram challenged kit (PC’s or laptops) a...

Hi Iguleder Yes please:- you can see in my signature panel the type of kit that is in use so any new, go faster, lite pups with modern capability, would be very interesting to me and I am sure, many others too. Happy to help with testing etc. Good to see and read what you do (most of which is beyond...

Just had to let you all know how well shinobar’s portable Firefox works with Jemimah’s outstanding Saluki.

Fantastic - running frugal on my old IBM T41 laptop, 512mb ram, no swap, Pentium M 1400Mhz processor.

This is the latest Firefox, quite amazing.

Hi oldyeller

Done both a frugal and a full install to my old IBM A21m laptop.

Very pleasantly surprised how well FluxPup 1.5.1 runs on such a ram challenged laptop.

Very nicely done - very best regards - Ray

Absolutely superb new FD64 - so easy to setup. Love the new wifi setup module. Minor issue finding control panel. (Maybe consider a menu entry too) Did a manual frugal to an old usb stick that had FD521 on it. Running on an older HP laptop that has an AMD Athlon X2 proc. and 2gig of ram. (Not mine -...

Hi John Just downloaded to external usb storage using my 701SD netbook. Must get a usb CD/DVD burner for it. However, the older Acer and even older IBM laptops both have CD’s, so will use one or both of them to test. Really good to see you are still improving Legacy OS. You make users of older kit v...

HI oldyeller

Extremely impressed - runs so well on both the asus 701sd netbook and the older acer travelmate 243LC.

Really low resource usage and low running temp on both units. Frugal installations.

Outstanding puppy - many thanks for this little beauty.

Very best regards - Ray

Hi 01micko Am using slacko5.6.5 atm with my 701SD EeePc (512mb ram + celeron proc.) and all is very good, including suspend / resume. Firefox works but I usually install dillo for use as default html viewer and opera as default browser because they are so much more responsive. Opera is in the packag...

Thanks 01micko for the fix. A thought for readers contemplating multi-boot with slacko64 on a f2fs usb. A fat 1st partition is reqd. and a 32mb size is suggested. Fine for a single install. However, if you intend to do multiple multi-boot installations, then a larger fat 1st partition is needed. 1 o...

Very interesting:- did a frugal install to the same f2fs usb stick and slacko64 is noticeably faster, seems much snappier all round. Firefox in particular is infinitely more responsive in all aspects. Suspend / resume now works too. So it would appear that in this instance, contrary to normal expect...

Hi 01micko A small note regarding suspend / resume and slacko64. When an f2fs is unmounted - it seems ok. When an f2fs drive is mounted - it don’t work. Interestingly, Xprecise 5.7.1 frugally installed to the same f2fs usb with a savefile in use (therefore mounted) does work. Maybe to do with the fi...

Hi 01micko Just to let you know that i did a full install to a 16gb mini usb and all seems good. Used the f2fs installer.
