Installed DebianDog to USB, its working very nicely. It might be worth making it more obvious that the installer is included in the ISO, as I tried to install by downloading it separately, and making it obvious that DebianDog will ask you to create a savefile. @sheldonisaac
You are not the first to desire a Puppy that is slimmed down. Often referred to as Barebones. ThinSlacko may be a good option.
Some options are listed here-

Or there was/is a Babybuild option in Woof if your feeling adventurous.

Is there a puppy that will run on the Banana Pi? The processor is the A20 which is ARMv7. This is the newer and more commonly supported instruction set compared to the Raspberry Pi which uses a chip with ARMv6. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_Cortex-A7_MPCore In theory versions of Puppy for these...

Although in my case the card to use can not be configured as hw0 or hw1 - because the cards are not always recognised and assigned numbers in the same order at boot up. I had a script that fixed it, but since Slacko 5.5 the part of ALSA needed ...

The fact that the sound no longer works under XP could point to the card being disabled or having developed a fault (as previously stated). Was anything changed apart from installing linux? another way to check if the soundcard is recognized is to use hardinfo- Puppy Menu > System > HardInfo This sh...
