I am trying to use Arduino IDE version 1.5.8 to program an Arduino Yun board. The Arduino Yun has both a regular USB port and Wifi programming. The wifi section of the board uses Open WRT Linux. It works fine. I can access the web server and ssh to get to the Linux command line. I can control the Li...

neerajkolte, I am no expert on the system start up process. But, here is an idea (or guess) for you. There is the file, /etc/rc.d/rc.local, that is run before the start of Xwindows. On this laptop, it is used to configure Raedon DPM power management. In earlier puppies, one used the file to setup th...

Yes, vvora, if you just click on the cd disk icon, fatdog64 version 700 beta2 tries to mount it as a normal data disk. The result is an empty directory because it is an audio. To play (i.e. listen) the audio tracks, one can use VLC media player to select and play the disk. VLC media player is under ...

Thanks, vvora, for the problem and solution. Yes this happens
(Leave it to me to post a question only to figure it out minutes later...)
to a lot of us.

In my case, it is usually longer than minutes. Often, the process of writing out the problem provides the ideas to solve it :)

The CUPS program does not work correctly with Fatdog64 700 beta versions (see comments on page 8 of this thread). The issue can be resolved by using Gslapt (either with menu entry in setup or in the control panel system utilities). The two (2) programs needed are ghostscript-9.10-x86_64-1.txz and gh...

Excuse me, rcrsn51, I said it was only the beta versions of Fatdog64 700 that had the problem with printing. Both official version 700 beta (1 and 2) are missing the files ghostscript and ps2pdf. This was discussed here ( http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=95694&start=30 ), which i...

rek769, There is a known problem with printing in the 700 beta versions. The beta version is for testing and should not be used for day to day operations. It maybe better to use the stable 630 version of fatdog64. The 630 version is what I use for my normal day to day stuff. I do know the printing w...

I used micko01 get_libreoffice script (version 0.29) to create a 64 bit English LibreOffice version 4.3.4 SFS. It does not show up in the SFS manager control panel application, probably due to a lack of knowledge on my part. It is available in the contributor repository here: http://distro.ibiblio.o...

Thank you for the script to get and make a sfs for LibreOffice. I took your pet version 0.29 and extracted the script. I used the script with Fatdog64 700 beta2 to create a sfs for the latest 64 bit English version (4.3.4) of LibreOffice. If anyone is interested, the sfs can be found here: http://di...

Kirk and James take care of yourself and your families. They come first and are more important. Thanks again for your efforts. For the fatdog problems, we will have to exercise some patience. After all, patience is a virtue that has to be practiced :)

I added three stable release packages from Mozilla to the ibiblio.org fatdog64 contributor repository. They are FileZilla 3.9.0.6, Thunderbird 31.2.0 and Firefox 33.1.1 The applications are all configured to run as spot. For the Firefox application, before installing it, one needs to remove the defa...

When do you need permissions to do something that is perfectly allowed (i.e. ping IP address) and causes no damage! :D Oh by the way, there are many tools like fing and ipscan that are available to do the same without any knowledge of scrip language and network tools. The other thing about this thre...

From Burn-IT: Er... I have a solution that works on any device that has an internet browser. Just log on to the router's browser interface and look at the Wifi Connected stats. Or am I being too obvious?? <grin> How do you do that without administrative permissions for the router? For example, all t...

I have started to use FileZilla as FTP cliient. I have been using it as root. I know the standard practice is to run email clients and web browsers as spot rather than root for security reasons. Should the same be done for FTP clients? Thanks in advance for any help on this. I decided to set it up t...

Thanks Kirk for the information on slack-required and slack-desc files. I did some more research on them. I think I have it for the package. How about this. One takes a picture in the appropriate format and submits it as camera data to the authentication program. I think this would get another person into the system. Although just taking a photograph and printing seems easier.

This is a bad idea. Fingerprints do work.
