missing dictionary
Thanks playdayz. I tried the sfs3 version in 421 and it works fine, except for one strange quirk: When opening Writer a message comes up and reports "dict-fr.oxt does not exist". When opening Writer again, it opens without this message. Installing the French dictionary does not help any. A...

Upgrade a frugal install from 421 to 431
Has anybody tried upgrading a frugal installation of Puppy 421 to 431? I found several major problems and did not succeed with the upgrade. First, the pup_safe.2fs file of 421 is now called pupsafe.2fs. Okay, one could rename the file. But it does prevent an automatic update when starting from the n...

4.3.1 Internet connection settings not saved
I had experimented with 430 upgrading a full HDD installation of 421. The LAN connection did not save for the next boot. So far so bad. Next I did a frugal install of 431RC and the connection settings were saved on the fresh install. Hurray! BUT... then I made an executable in /root/startup to have ...

problems with internet connection
First, of course, I'd like to acknowledge the hard and diligent work that goes into the development of Puppy. Barry and a few very creative developers deserve all the credit one can give them for it. So, generally I do enjoy Puppy, more so than any other OS. Yet, there is a but, a big BUT. And it is...

internet connection not saving
Hey ttuuxxx I had already drafted a raving thank you note in my mind, but alas, no such luck. Installed the pet, restarted x, reconnected and saved; then a reboot. Result: The LAN internet connection still does not save for the next boot. This is too bad, because it probably means I have to go back ...

internet connection not saving
With all you guys rattling along I would have thought that someone might have had an answer to my humble problem on page 8 of this thread.
My internet connection settings are not saved for the next boot and this happens only in 4.31.1 and 4.3.1.
Details on page 8.
Any ideas, anyone?

internet connection not saved
Hi ttuuxxx, appreciate your great work, but this drives me crazy on 4.3.1.1: The internet connection is not saved for the next boot. Is there a file where one can manually do just that? My set up: Puppy 4.3.1.1 on Full HDD JWM (and ICEwm) Internet by Network (DSL; DHCP) This problem does not exist i...

Puppy 4.3 Final -- bug reports and suggestions
Issues I noticed: 4.3 standard: petget doesn't run from the desktop icon. When started from /usr/local/petget/pkg_chooser.sh only the Package Manager opens. 4.3 small: Internet connection wizard/Internet by network doesn't recognize any network card. Standard version does! Both: icons.png are not di...

Internetzugang
Hi Samy...

Puppy 3.00 bugs
When running Puppy 3.00 as a LiveCD I continue to find these problems, even after the PPPOE-fix. (My internet connects through a DSL modem, no router) Roaring Penguin starts and connects, but Firefox doesn't get access to the internet, neither does Thunderbird. Same problem occurs in Firehydrant and...

Puppy 3.00 bug
I confirm the bug on pppoe as reported by Leon, eccentric and panzerpuppy. Roaring Penguin does not work for my DSL-Modem. An internet connection is not possible. This occurs on a fresh CD and on an upgraded one. The bug was not present on 2.17.1, it was on 2.21 and now on 3.00. Hope you will figure...

Tried 2.20 and did an experimental upgrade from 2.17.1. Everything works fine, even my internet connection (use tkpppoe on a dsl-modem). Did all my adjustments and created a new ISO with Dougal. Burned it to CD with Grafburn. But when I booted from that remastered CD and tried to restart, the SAVE t...
