The name "openchrome" should answer your question in and of itself ;)

Applying the fix is somewhat tedious and somewhat boring. Read here, starting with the second post --> http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=107198 Affected VIA chipsets are anything vaguely similar to the VX800 series. This includes the VX855 and VX900 chipsets and may include the K8M800 and...

Don't know, haven't touched it. I'm waiting on phil to update it a little, though -- he said he would in a PM to me (which I've since unfortunately lost) -- the openchrome driver in there has support broken for certain VIA-branded chipsets, and I'm the guy who got that fixed. phil said he'd release ...

Well, one, anyhow. Why the heck would anyone WANT dial-up...? It's soooo sloooow.

I did not say I was updating any repos -- that is unchanged from Upup 3992. I do not have control over those -- which is quite fine with me. I was suggesting that the update-package-sources script within the PPM might need to be run, by people using Van Pup (and, in turn, Upup 3992), for the PPM to ...

GNOME2's Nautilus (carried on as Caja, part of MATE) is the most exact copy of Windows Explorer that I've seen in Linux, behavior-wise.

Alas, in Puppy, for reasons even the devs haven't figured out, it crashes on volume unmount. Whoops!

@Pelo -- do you know about dir2pet...? I've used it... a couple years ago. While reasonably fluent in American English, I did not know Linux well (I still don't  ), and I did not know how to compile successfully. It worked anyways. Making *.pet packages is apparently not only for experts any m...

Pelo, greengeek -- thanks to both of you for keeping this alive. I should've said that sooner. It was that bug with this Pup that made me realize I could not adequately support what I was creating -- and that is why I stopped. Perhaps, one day, I will learn enough about Puppy and Linux that I can be...

I don't know squat about modems beyond what I posted and a bunch of boring dusty old historical crap that (a) nobody cares about anymore and (b) nobody needs to care about if their computer was built after roughly 1991. Look at the largest chip on the modem card. If it says Conexant on it, or has their logo -- you're screwed. You can communicate at 14.4kbps using their purposefully-hobbled free driver, or fork over $20 for the driver that actually works. My suggestion -- recycle it, and get something older that wor...
