Weird . Whatever is storing the mouse cursor position is a few hundred x and y points out?

You can highlite the links and make them clickable

Are you clicking the mouse ?
Is it a radio mouse or cable?
Check the mouse for a grain of dust/sand on one side of the pickup creating an echo effect maybe?

I don't quite understand what you say. I have a new USB mouse and it works on most linux distros in Vmware. Puppy linux or Puppy linux based distro have mouse problem.
In Vmware Player which is free for non-commecial, it is not clickable at all
I need to try Puppy linux in virtual machine before i try on actual machine.

Have you got the correct mouse drivers installed in both the host AND the guest (may be different drivers)???

Need to check the vmware mouse setup.

Try this:

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
