Canon MG5700 series - Shrink page to fit (Xenial Pup 7.5)

#1 Post by SoftSupp »

Dear All,

I have an issue with the above driver that I'm hoping that you can help me with.

I often receive A3 & A2 architectural drawings as .PDF files and only having an A4 printer, I just 'shrink to fit' and the drawing should appear in full on A4.

So, within CUPS (for the above printer), I have set the default setting 'Shrink Page If Necessary to Fit Borders' to 'Shrink'. but upon printing, this doesn't happen

I've also made sure that this option is set correctly each time I print (which it is), but alas I'm still left with a section of the page.

I've tested this with .PDF files and also creating over-sized drawings within Libre Draw, but all to no avail.

Apart from using up a lot of printer ink, it's causing me a real headache!

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Pete,,,

Hi SoftSupp,

Have you tried to print through adobe reader?

It has scaling options when printing a pdf.

edit: Adobe acrobat here http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=111049

Is this what you did to setup the driver?

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

You do have the CUPS printer defaults set to A4 paper?
