USB keyboard on install?

#1 Post by wavelength »

All,

Loading slacko x86 latest today on a new computer. It allows me to use the USB keyboard until it gets to the config screen then nothing???

Tried both graphical and non graphical.

The mother board has a PS2 port but I don't have a PS2 keyboard or mouse.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Gordon

Maybe try a different USB port
Loading slacko x86 latest today on a new computer.

Not enough info.
Need specific version of Slacko.
Slacko 6.3.2?
Slacko64 6.3.2?
Slacko 6.9.9.9?
Slacko64 6.9.9.9?
Or a Slacko derivative?

Where did you get the Slacko iso?
You installed it to what device and how?
Need details!!

First thing to try is do a new fresh download of the Slacko iso.
Do a fresh clean install of this iso.
Make sure to install to a clean freshly formatted partition.
Downloads and installs of iso's do go wrong sometimes!
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
YaPI(any iso installer)

few years ago I have Dell desktop with no PS2. USB keyboard works fine in Win XP.
I remember problems in slacko with USB keyboard.

this work:
disconect and connect again your keyboard when slacko finished loading.

annoynig I know

I didn't deal long with it, Dell desktop were sold (was also strange build, nothing fits inside, only special parts)
Think it was poorly made BIOS.

IIRC, you can add "coldplug" (without the quotes) onto the line with the kernel parameters, in the boot menu file, and it will load extra device drivers for wireless keyboards.

Anyways it works in some versions ..
