There has been a large mitigation patch for SSBD (aka Spectre-2) released for supported kernels. Those folks involved with Woof-CE or that otherwise patch/update kernels should have at least a look at this update.
Those using Slackware 14.2 have an update through Slackware.
Changelog for 4.4.144 as example

Wait till someone releases a compatible kernel (32 or 32pae or 64 bit) and replace your zdrv & vmlinuz (& possibly add fdrv if needed). Since it's a major change, I'm waiting a fortnight or more for stability, before I make a 4.14.xx 64bit kernel, as it takes me 5 hours to compile one. Too many 'reversions' (undoing previous fixes) have occurred for my liking.
Yah, its time consuming. Even at the "spin" level. Since the general distro gets updated, occasionally the spin needs revision. Considering the recent updates to kernel that are including spectre-2 if I were to update AtomicPup to k3.18.x it would take me at least that long.
IMHO: kernels seem to be getting twice-a-week updates due to all this Meltdown/Spectre crud. I'm hoping this situation will more or less stabilize soon. /MHO

That was a long fortnight - 8 weeks - but I finally got to a make kernel that has no significant reverts/updates - 4.14.69 64bit slacko64 compatible.
