Notify when reply made

#1 Post by tosim »

I've got my "X" in the Notify when replies are made, box on the question I placed in the Security area, but even though I get replies here in our forum, I NEVER receive an email notification. Could someone please check this out? Am running Mint18.3-MATE, with FF Quantum,v.62.0.3. Thank you.

Did you check your spam folder?

Lots of people have complained that they don't get notifications from the forum. As far as I know, none of them are in the U.S.. Maybe there's something about traffic coming from the U.S. that your ISP doesn't like.

Yeah - still patchy here in Oz with my gmail account. I've set the spam filters to permit Murga forum replies and messages, to mixed success. That is, only a small fraction of notifications regarding thread replies were getting through to me - a few weeks ago it was working ok but I'm back in the dark again. My browser homepage is now http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/search ... d=newposts. Not ideal, but hey it keeps me in the loop :(

Check your Puppy forum thread replies every day. The auto notification does not work reliably. If you do not check the forum every day you will miss replies that are made to the threads to which you are subscribed.

Auto notification has always seemed to be reliable the few times I've used it. I have to remember to uncheck the "auto notify" box every time I reply to a thread or my email inbox is full of notifications.

It has been quite a few years now since I last received a reply notice from the Murga Forum. I have no way of checking if my email provider (GMX) is bouncing the email as that would be in the domain of the Murga-Linux forum site administrator. NB GMX offers site/email whitelisting and murga-linux.com, murga-linux.org john@murga.com are whitelisted but still there are no mesages from the forum.

I don't know why the forum would send notifications only certain people. I seem to always get them. As far as I know, everyone who has reported missing notifications is outside the U.S.

Who is your ISP? Have you spoken with them about this problem? I'm not trying to blame them, I'm just trying to get some kind of useful information. I don't know if it's a bug in the forum software or what.

Hi tosim,

Seems to work o/k in the UK. It might be worth checking your profile settings.
Here are mine for comparison.

Thanks for the replies. Contacting my isp is useless; my profile setup same as yours. Thanks again.

Are you having the problem only with threads you have started (ie: you are the O.P) or with any thread you reply to also?
