I only make a devx for a particular version of Puppy Linux that I am producing with woof-CE..so the devx is more dependent on the operating system version. I seem to be able to swap in and out kernels from a working system without ever changing the devx.
I made the real time kernels for our musician Puppy people to experiment with.... to record audio or run software synths and sequencers for live performances using Puppy Linux as the main OS
I am lucky enough to have been given a machine that can crunch out kernel-kit built kernels and woof constructed OS's pretty fast
a Dell Optiplex 990 with 4 cores 16gigs RAM that I can run dedicated to making this stuff and testing it out.
let me know how they work for you.

Nice one. And I have to say, it amuses me the crap some people come out with on other forums. Like this, from the XP Forums:-rockedge wrote:I made the real time kernels for our musician Puppy people to experiment with.... to record audio or run software synths and sequencers for live performances using Puppy Linux as the main OS.
https://www.xpforums.com/threads/xp-wil ... st-3260077...puppy is a minimal OS and mostly garbage for day to day use...
That particular individual and I have 'crossed swords' a number of times on that forum. I only frequent it to try and persuade some of 'em that there are easy-to-use Linux alternatives to keeping creaky old XP going!
Some folks' ignorance is astonishing.... My response:-
And the come-back:-Well said! Spoken by somebody who hasn't got a clue what they're running on about.....
Puppy does everything that I need it to.....without the hassle of an ancient, out-dated and archaic OS that now needs tons of work just to stay usable. Don't get me wrong; I used XP for the entirety of its supported life (2001-2014), and quite enjoyed it.....till I learnt better.
At some point, you have to call it a day. I agree, it's still fine as a 'standalone workstation' kind of thing.....so long as you accept that its days of being viable online are all but gone.
I've always relished a challenge; when EOL came in 2014 I decided M$ had had enough of my money over the years.....so I wiped Windows out of my life, and dived head-first into Linux. And haven't looked back since.
Amusing, or what?Actually I do know what I'm talking about. I come from a SunOS background, but forgive me if I don't want to debate with a rocket scientist who believes a 1 man OS is comparable to a multi billion dollar OS with a billion users at its peak. I'm sorry you found it unstable, I think that further confirms you might be the one who doesn't know much.

Hello Mike....
to show an example...every aspect of this little film I made fooling around, was done with Puppy Linux Xenial 7.5 using LMMS, Audacity, Openshot, DosBox running FRACTINIT, Wine running PhotoFiltre Studio X and Simple Screen Recorder. All in OS that loads at boot in 275 megs of RAM......
https://youtu.be/LdhIIhdbIvk
also totally made this other example film and music with the same system using LMMS, Openshot, DosBox running FRACTINIT, Wine running PhotoFiltre Studio X, Simple Screen Recorder and Audacity, add using VLC to get the oscilloscope...
