Peabee, once again thank you for the excellent work..this OS is top shelf.
I am about to run an experiment using the upupbb-18.05+16.iso
and swap in a kernel 4.18.16 that I just finished compiling using the kernel-kit

looks promising and then I will swap in a real time kernel and run some heavy software synthesizers and record them.

the other project is to get your Bionicpup to run a LAMP and ZoneMinder cleanly and reliably as I have in Tahr and Xenial.....I attempt with the Puppy Linux - zoneminder combo to provide a solid camera security /network video recorder for the people interested in having such a system, to be able to have options to run completely in RAM or portable on a USB stick or just fast and small on a frugal puppy install....all of it in about 600 megs of RAM....that number competes with anybody's OS doing the same thing,

Thanks. I've run it in the most recent LxPupSc while chasing a 4.19.0 kernel quirk there. Boots and runs well in that pup with excellent video FPS, CPU and mem use at idle, dmesg cleanliness etc. on my i5 laptop. So far I'm using the 4.9.134 from upupcc on all the ubuntu based pups and derivs and happy with that.
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.

G'day there, I'm getting Grief installing Compiz on this LxPup Bionic Beaver on this Dell Vostro 1500, w/ NVidia GeForce 8600M GT Graphics.

Compiz isn't working, I Checked the Dependencies & then Started Hunting them down thru the Puppy Package Manager & the iNet ( it was worse than what yoU C on the Attached ScreenShot ).

But it was just Too Tedious, so I thought I'd install Synaptic Package Manager 2 Resolve those Dependencies, but alas it has the Same Dependency Headache!

Can Anybody Help me? Please!

perdido supplied these with help from Semme.

Both work after a reboot.
However I prefer for banking to boot a pristine Puppy,
add my stored bookmarks, and usually Slimjet and off I go.

This driver needs to get incorporated into the kernel to be viable.

At the moment it falls into the same category as ndiswrapper and nvidia drivers.

I have made a repo for such drivers:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/zestyp ... c/drivers/
which I will link to post #3

and the firmware needs to find its way into the sfs maintained by @gyro

Hi Max,

Your's is a python problem, and all I know about python is it bites me.

I suspect the Puppy Community will hate me for mentioning this. Earlier you thought about installing synaptic but were properly advised against it.

As you probably know, synaptic is a front-end (Gui) for apt-get. sc0ttman has been working on a package installer similar to apt-get. It may help in your quest, or drive you further toward distraction. The thread about it is here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 531#985531

" fixed, thanks for testing "

No problems mate....

I was just worried my Magnetic Personality was interfering
in the installation.
Semme would know about that.

...all I know about python is it bites me.
Almost all python dependent programs had caused trouble when trying to use them. Wherever possible I'm continue to avoid python software.

There should be a official package for each official Puppy Linux containing all the python stuff needed to run all python programs possible.

Would save a lot of trouble/hassle, but I assume it could be huge?

Sfs Repo

#379 Post by Blackbird »

Hi Guys

Hi PeeBee

Am really enjoying Bionic

Have just updated.

When I click on Choose an sfs from the Official Repo., The Package Manager crashes.

Also the link on the Package Manager Introduction Webpage is button is dead.

Have disabled my Save Folder and rebooted. Problem persists.

Any ideas ?
