32bit firefox crash v63.0.3 to v64 update <<SOLVED>>

#1 Post by r__hughes »

I have just encountered a problem updating Firefox v63.0.3 to v64.0.

I am using a 32bit frugal Slacko 5.7 npae with an updateable version of 32bit Firefox Quantum derived from firefox-34.0.5.tar.bz2. A while ago (July 2018) I had a problem updating from v60.0.1 to v61 due to missing libxul libraries which was resolved by adding them (thanks Oscartalks & many other forum members).

But now firefox will not restart after updating from v63.0.3 to v64.0 - the error message is:
firefox3: error while loading shared libraries: libatomic.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Could anyone shed a light on this latest libatomic mystery?

@ r__hughes:-

AFAIK, libatomic's still on the other end of that link (I've just checked) , even though I don't use my MediaFire a/c so much nowadays. Anyway; help yourself. Let us know if it helps; forewarned is fore-armed; I'm not sure if my common 'Quantum' install has updated to v64 yet.....may be something to look out for.

Mike.

EDIT:- Ok. v64 update just gone through without issues. I've had libatomic installed for quite some time, myself (at least a couple of years). It may well be just what you need.

Keep us posted, please.
