OneBone requires login at boot?

#1 Post by MDG »

Hi
I am trying OneBone on an old laptop (133 MHz). Once it boots and I close elinks, I am left at the root prompt. If I Ctrl+Alt+F2, I get a screen that says login puppypc: Did I miss something? How do I proceed from here?

Thanks so much for any help :)

You don't say how much memory your PC has. I'm going to guess that it's not enough for even Puppy. I could be wrong though. :)

OneBone has no GUI (user is root, no pass).

I've run 2.13 Puppy on 75mhz with 40meg of RAM and a swapfile on IDEHD. Finally got around to digging this up and posting it.

I just posted this for you to check out:

I came up with a way to boot with no X also (different than no pivot) by typing pfix=nox at the prompt. I'll try to find that and post it also.

John Doe, very interesting!

I still don't understand the "Puppypc :" login thing going on.

Thanks for pointing out the nice article.
