As I was a little bit in a rush and I wasn't able to figure out how to install Ubuntu8.4 I eventually chose normal/standard Ubuntu 10 LinuxCNC iso.
On my second PC I use however DebianDog-Jwm with frugall instalation.

note to all: i dont receive notification of new post for this topic,it could sometime take a while before i notice it.... linuxcnc is pretty stable and there are no "security" update (yes,wrote it a few time...)to that "dog" ,so i dont have to come here often .

First of all I would like to say thank you, Revolverve for this.
This is exactly what I was searching last few days.

But now I have a problem .

I successfully created a USB boot with Rufus software.
Now I want to install it on Disk.

First of all I powered ON computer with this OS.
I have created partition on disk with GParted (created EXT4).
After that I pluged in USB with ISO file same as booted on USB earlier.

Than I have used DebianDog-Full-Install application.

After clicking Install button I have to approve that all will be erased than installation starts. But when at 100% it says Installing Failed and all I can is to click OK button..

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Generally the full install is not recommended unless your system has less than 512MB RAM memory.

Try using the frugal install to the hard drive if the frugal install is an option, Your USB stick is probably a frugal install.

The dogs are different than puppy but the difference between frugal and full is similar.

A little reading about a frugal install will reveal you lose nothing with a frugal install and gain some flexibility

Here too its frugal,all the way .Take the time to learn dogs and puppys frugal install,as Perdido wrote ;its almost the same,learning curve worth it,you will end up wishing all distros could run this way...
If frugal,the only difference from usb or hdd/ssd(i must test one day ntfs/lick/frugal) are changes in your grub menu.lst entries .If you get success at full install , please share your results!

Hint:this iso is based on an old debiandog wheezy ,specify it in your search,there could be slight "persistence boot arguments" changes needed in the grub menu from newer "dogs".
this would be a good start:saintless old "dogs" how to "bible"...

with dependencies(i think that all it need..)

But i share it,it did not break anything here,so,
in case someone could help manage priviledges problems..
who knows? most devs look hyperactives,may one or two got cnc/3dprinter hobby in
their spare time between coding...at night..
a 24mb pet here,testing...1-2
Did not knock at linuxnc devs doors yet ,i'm just keeping my head above the sea of linux priviledges knowhow ...
It is still interesting at a mere 180mb to have a working debiandog rtai linuxcnc at least for a few users,
wheezy linuxcnc iso is 1.1gb... of course you get a nice browser included + securing updates+ more hardwares support..
edit;this test pet has no permissions "tweaks"...
