rsync-3.1.3 for XenialPup-7* and above

#1 Post by musher0 »

Hello all.

Please find attached the latest stable version of rsync -- as these lines are
being written.

To recreate the split pet file, open a console in the download directory
and type

Code: Select all

cat ?-rsync* > rsync.3.1.3.pet
Then, a double-click on the recreated pet archive will install it.

The doc archive is small enough to be re-transmitted directly on this
board. Simply double-click on it and it will install.

~~~~~~~~~~
I felt that a pet of the new version of rsync was in order since the version
this XenialPup-706 came with was v. 3.1.1, from 2014.
~~~~~~~~~~

Those unfamiliar with the capacities of rsync may wish to read the
README file.

~~~~~~~~~~
Please note that rsync can be configured. It works OOTB, but it can be
tweaked through its configuration file. You will find more details on such
tweaking online and in the doc archive.
~~~~~~~~~~

The compiling formula was the usual < ./configure --prefix=/usr >.

< make test > reported one error out of 30 tests, and 4 skipped. This
report is included in the doc file. I tried to research this error 275, but
could not find anything. I tested the newly compiled executable on my
Pup, and everything looked ok.

So I let it go. However, should you run into any error or bug, please
report it below, and we'll try to do something about it together.

~~~~~~~~~~
Best regards.
Thank you Christian!
An analog page for "localhost" perhaps?
Also for you and all puppyists and visitors Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
@oui:
I don't know why you are asking about localhost in a thread on rsync,
but here is a starting point from where you can search for an answer:
https://duckduckgo.com/html/?q=localhost&t=oen
Best regards.
