Subject description: trying to teach puppy for free

hello fellows, I've been thinking about the possibility of teaching people to use puppy linux in the willing of making them have the choice of not to throw away their old laptops and PCs. I used google to search for someone else before me trying to do this same thing, but didn't find anyone yet. May I ask you about if you know people interested in making this effort? It would be for free, and the principal reward would be to get a training in the usage of puppy and all software different from windows to teach how to keep old computers running for some more years. I thought about making this exclusively using the internet and whatsapp, since that can allow to implement a small course on the net to post in notes all the basic information needed

Hello, Enrique.

A project exactly the same the same as yours, no. But...

There was a Brit, about 10 years ago, who frequented this forum. (Can't
remember his forum name ATM, sorry...) The way I remember it, he had
a computer coffee shop in a port city in England, for travelers and people
in the neighborhood.

Every one of his (recycled!) computers had Puppy on it, and he would
explain his customers how to use it. They could buy, for the equivalent of
approx. $1, their own Puppy CD, on which they would save their personal
e-mails and docs.

That is a very good project, IMO.

As you know, you will not be lacking educational material: there is
already a PuppyLinux Manual, plus the zillion and a half bits and tidbits of
good advice on this forum!!! Very Happy

Good luck!

Hi Enrique Corbellini,

Get idea. Might I suggest that you speak to your local priest, rabbi, imam or anyone else in charge of organizations in your area. Ask if you could post a notice of your willingness to teach. Perhaps also ask if it were possible for them to provide space for you to conduct classes. Mention the personal benefit to their members of not having to spend mega-$$$ to run the latest software securely and the environmental benefit of not dumping old computers.

Rather than CDs, look into the cost of purchasing USB-Sticks. Last year I purchased three 8 Gb Stick from Walgreens for $10. I know there are bulk sellers on ebay, but I don't know the reliability of the 'no-name' brands they sell. Purchasing a small lot could provide a test.
