Free memory indicator suddenly very low

#1 Post by ppurvis »

Last time I used puppy (pendrive install) I had 200+ meg of free memory. Now it is 18.2
I installed firefox, but that is it. What can I do to recover from this low figure (other than starting from scratch)

you can probably find the files that are taking up the space using Gdmap ... look in the hidden directory .mozilla in /root for Cache files ... often you need to delete left over files in the Cache directories manually

it would probably be a good idea to set the maximum cache size to a small value, like 5 megs, or even to set the cache size to 0 megs ... you can set this by clicking Edit, Preferences, Advanced tab, Network tab

also in preferences (Privacy tab, Always Clear My Private Data When I Close Firefox), Settings button ... you can set Firefox to automatically clear the Cache when you close Firefox ... you probably will still need to delete files in .mozlla that Firefox has not deleted
