DuckDuckGo
Duckduckgo is banned at our library so I enquired as to why.
They claim it can be used to visit illegal sites (which would be blocked anyway and do they only use google results or am I missing something?) and hide information that may be needed for criminal proceedings.
All seemed a bit excessive to me... I assumed they simply cleaned up results and removed ads while preventing tracking.
Note that the libraries service desk CAN access it...as the Americans say 'go figure'.

On duckduckgo there is a setting to turn off safe search. I don't know whether or not someone can do the same thing on Google.mikeb wrote:Duckduckgo is banned at our library so I enquired as to why.

But according to duckduckgo what is mostly blocked is porn and why would someone want to watch porn at the library?
