Easier Woof-CE Configuration

#1 Post by cochranizer »

Hi, everyone,

Before I begin my idea, thank you for welcoming me to this Puppy Forum, as I fully enjoy Puppy GNU/Linux (I add the GNU in there because of FSF reasons). And since I am new, if this topic is in the wrong area of the forum, please move it if you need to.

Anyway, I was thinking woof-CE should have a configuration file that looks like this:

Code: Select all

NAME="MediaPup"
VERSION=7.5.1
ARCH="x86_64"
DISTRO="bionic64"
DESKTOP="gnome"
PPM_PACKAGES="gimp audacity openshot"
DEVX=1 #1 means yes, 0 means no
WOOF_BUILD="testing"
So my question is, is there such type of config that I don't see? Because if there isn't, I would love to have this involved with woof-CE and devx, no matter what Puppy Build is used.

Thanks!

EDIT
------

Here's more of a detailed revision to what I'm looking for:

Code: Select all

NAME="MediaPup"
VERSION=7.5
ARCH="x86_64"
DISTRO="ubuntu"
SUITE="bionic"
DESKTOP="gnome"
PPM_PACKAGES="gimp audacity openshot obs-studio musecore brasero ardour muse transmission-qt nicotine snapd synaptic gnome-software inkscape libreoffice retroarch"
DEVX=1
WOOF_BUILD="testing"
WALLPAPER=ask
ISO_NAME="MediaPup-bionic-amd64-7.5-gnome.iso"
NONFREE=1

Dog Linux has somewhat of solution.

I was using Dog Linux the other day, specifically Xenial and Bionic Dog (don't know if it was made from woof-CE or not), but the application apt2sfs lets me build somewhat of a filesystem just by specifying packages, a desktop environment, the shell, etc. I know it is mainly for creating attachable sfs files for Dog, but if only I knew what packages I could use to make it bootable and chootable.

No, as far as I know, it is not made from Woof-CE. I don't think Woof-CE builds using systemd for the boot.

This would be best to ask in BionicDog Topic.
