cpu freq

#1 Post by Gnimmelf »

Hi there
Im runing bionicpup full install.
the cpu freq tool doesnt stay on "performance" on reboot.
it goes back to "on demand".
Is there a way to make it stay?
I think it stayed in xenialpup?
is it because i made a full install (not frugall)
full install seems faster, uses less ram.

Im not a tech wizard! Smile

Is this Bionicpup64 7.9.8?

In Frequency Scaling Tool
From info on first window when it opens.
What scaling driver is it using?

that is the governor.
I need to know what driver.

It tells you the driver on that first window that opens when you run CPU Frequency Scaling Tool.

Well, Intel_pstate driver is what to use if you have a Intel CPU.

It only has two governors.
Performance
Powersave

So, you should be able to set it to performance.

What is the Intel CPU in this computer?
Support for some CPU's is limited. You could have one of them.

This could be a bug in doing a full install of Bionicpup.
It seems full installs are getting buggy with letting some features work correctly.

The intel _pstate defaults as the scaling tool on intel cpu's but sometimes has bugs.

You could try the acpi-cpufreq scaling driver.

Directions for disabling the intel_pstate driver are here.
