There is one here https://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/p ... -bionic64/
but it is for 4.19.12 kernel.
My Dell e6400 laptop has nvidia nvs3100m and it would be nice to get real drivers.
pete
I tried compiling it and it seemed to compile for me.
Could not test, because my computer uses Intel Graphics.

Do it following this procedure.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=110611

I had the devx, kernel sources, and 32bit compatibility sfs's loaded.
You can get them from here:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/
Look in pet packages bionicpup64 and puppy bionic>bionicpup64
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Hey bigpup, I have done this a bunch of times on different pups and never had a problem.
But I did not have 32bit compatibility sfs's loaded. I will try it again,

thanks pete

Hey bigpup, getnvidia looked like it worked but on reboot black screen. I even tried it on a desktop with a 8600gt card and no go. It has to be the 4.19.23 kernel. I have bionicdog64 installed on both machines with nvidia-340 with no problem, dog has 4.15.22 kernel.

thanks pete

Do NOT let the Nvidia run package make the xorg.conf
It makes one that is not setup for Puppy.

Try booting to a prompt.
Run xorgwizard.
Make sure to choose nvidia by writing that in the driver selection.
Set resolution to something you know is good.
Any help?

@bigpup
I tried it again getnvidia with a nice clean save file and all three sfs's loaded, detached from the docking station, and it thru about 20 errors about not enough space and failed. The save was 2gb. This Dell e6410 has win10, tahr64, xenialpup64, bionicdog64, all with nvidia 340-107 installed and working fine. I started building pc systems in 1994, so I know all software does not work with all hardware. All I can see is it must be a compatibility problem with the kernel 4.19.23 and nvidia-340. It's not like I need another os on this system, so I will address this again at a later date. Thanks for your time and suggestions.

Pete, I too have an E6410, but with Intel video 8086:0046
I'm pretty sure the Bionicpup64 is the same one as you have, ie from about Feb 26.
It works with the video in this computer.

Sorry, I realize this doesn't help you.

You have the same laptop but with intel video mine is nvidia, thats where the problem is. With just the nouveau drivers it runs fine with no problems, but try a program that has opengl and they suck.

Things will work out..

CPU

#772 Post by Rodney Byne »

To Revolverve,

My CPU or Processor? is Intel Celeron T3500
Is your suggested .pet compatible with this type or not?
Is this .pet from Bionicpup64 PPM or from outside?

Maybe there is a problem with the OS system
like a missing symlink for example.

I know nothing.

I dont know what you put into that .pet, cause thats the biggest driver pet that I have seen 97mb. But IT WORKED. It worked perfect with the laptop off the docking station. When I put it on the dock with a 22" monitor it wanted to set the res at 3120x1050, so I went into nvidia setting and disabled the lap screen and set the res to 1680x1050 and it is happy. What triggers did you set on the nvidia run to get it to work.
Thank you so much.

Frugally installed (grub4dos/menu.lst) to HDD.

Booted/runs seemingly fine.

PPM'd capabilities and Xephyr and installed empty and pflask and ran a basic container (Xephyr, unshare, chroot capabilities dropped, chroot, using bionic as the base sfs and its own separate save folder area) - as per similar to EasyOS containers (I took a screenshot of that as per attached). Installed firefox portable into the container and ran that. Seemed fine until I had entered a posting here, and went to attach the screenshot, when it crashed. But fundamentally mostly there. (Just noticed that the date in the containers jwm tray is also clearly wrong).

Stacked jwm trays looks odd, but in my EasyOS version I've shortened down the main jwm tray and fill the gap with the container jwm tray. I also set the container windows title off in jwmrc so it better blends in.

This is my EasyOS desktop jwm tray arrangement. Mostly main desktop, where I've set the clock (leftmost) to also be the menu button (and calendar show on middle click, show/hide desktop on right click). And where the leftmost part of the tray (right of the xload tray icon) is the containers jwm tray (menu button rightmost, that also serves as show calendar, show/hide desktop). As the image shows, you can have both menus showing at the same time (not a edited/overlaid image, but a actual screenshot).

I moved this post from Lobster's thread announcing the Bionicpup64 8.0.

Is 8.0 a Bionic version that need constant updates via delta files every few weeks?

BionicPup32 and BionicPup64 are different in many aspects....one being that they have different update strategies.....

are "fixes" incorporated into most

Fixed
add a working redshift to quickpet or maybe include ....belham2
dbus not letting certain apps connect (wicd blueman) ...666philb

...
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but does "fixed" mean that if I download the ISO linked in post#1, the fixes will be in that ISO?
