Raspbian for Raspberry pi 3b+ or other x86

#1 Post by Lobster »

Raspbian on its own dedicated hardware pi 3 b+

https://raspbian.org/

You can get a raspbian version to run on any x86 too ...

I am very impressed with how much faster the hardware would be with Puppy.

However no puppys have been compiled for the raspberry pi3 b+ - yet ...

I had the first version Raspberry Pi, but it met an untimely death (I stepped on it).

It has always occurred to me that it wouldn't be that hard to make a Debian Dog from Raspian that would run on the Raspberry Pi. It might be as simple as modifying the build script to point to the right sources.

You might ask Fred.

Sorry to hear about your raspberry @dancytron and its instant hardware cyber-smoothy condition

I am already modifying Raspbian but it is time consuming just configuring one application - rox file manager for example.

The new hardware is about 6 times faster but has limited ram. The support and hacker and builder community is very enthusiastic.
Raspbian is mature - based on Buster at the moment. It is good but a native Puppy compile would run faster and more efficiently ... 8)
