Success report... Running an old HP Laserjet 1020.

On Xenial 7.5-64, I installed rcrsn51's code above, as specified.

I installed the two drivers:

foo2xxx_rcrsn-2014.04.26.pet
foo2xxx_udev_patch_upup387-1.0.pet
Powered off the printer, rebooted, powered on the printer and plugged it in. Printing test page works!

(Rerwin has solved a different problem in Xenial :-) )
