Can I install Puppy in my laptop? Can I use a cooling pad?
1. Wanting to install Puppy on my Windows 10 Dell laptop. It will not let me install Grub. Id like to use the original mbr. Anyone ever used this ??

2. The fan on my old Acer finally quit. I cant replace it. It requires a full disassembly I just can not deal with all the little cables. Do not have all my fingers and the ones I have do not work well. So, will one of those cooling pads work ? The have them on ebay with one to five fans for $20 or so.

The cooling pads work somewhat.
The problem is. Will it put air into the laptop, to actually get to the hot processor, to cool it.
Replacing the fan should not be that hard.
Get the specific replacement fan for the specific make and model of the laptop.
1. Take laptop back cover off.
2. Take two screws loose holding fan in mounting point.
3. Disconnect power cable from fan.
Install is steps in reverse.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Take a look at using Lick installer to do that.

Everyone that has used it, says it works great for making a dual boot setup with Windows 10.

Big, this Acer requires complete disassembly. About 30 screws and 10 or more tiny cables. I watched a couple youtube videos on it. My fingers will not do it.bigpup wrote:The cooling pads work somewhat.

Got a technical community collage nearby?Big, this Acer requires complete disassembly. About 30 screws and 10 or more tiny cables. I watched a couple youtube videos on it. My fingers will not do it.
They should have computer courses for working on computers.
Get the replacement fan it needs.
Take the computer and fan to them.
Changing out the fan on a laptop this hard to do, would be welcome training for the class.
You could also teach them about Puppy Linux!!!

True freedom is a live Puppy on a multisession CD/DVD.
