Does this help http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=606579#606579?

Also at http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=608734#608734, where there are also references to "sdesk", which might be the other one I'm thinking of.

no, these aren't what i want. i just want to be able to display the output of what a shell script or any other program prints to stdout on the jwm status bar, like how i3status or lemonbar displays the output of programs with set intervals.
