Re: Urgent kernel panic 2.2.9.1
Oh, not good. That is one thing I didn't test. Maybe it is because of the 4.19.97 kernel.Rodney Byne wrote:Re 2.2.9.1 urgent, when booting to run in ram & disable drives mode,
screen fills & ends in kernel panic.
The only way to reset laptop is to slide out the battery.
Otherwise booting in normal mode is ok.
Right now I am compiling the 5.4.18 kernel. If it works ok, will probably bring out EasyOS 2.2.10 soon. And I will make sure that "run in ram & disable drives" works.

These issues, and problem with bluetoothd daemon starting, seem to be all due to the change in udev, as posted here:Sage wrote:2.2.9.1: more updates:
4th boot-up - speed OK but mouse & k/b temporarily locked up, needed a few CTRL-ALT-BcK&DEL semi-random keypresses before mouse cursor re-appeared and k/b functional again.
Sadly sound returned to zero again but wifi active.

Yeah, getting faster bootup, but paying a price.
Note: I am running 2.2.9.1 right now on my laptop, and mouse, keyboard and bluetooth all working, no issues.
I hope to get it sorted for 2.2.10 release.

Re: Urgent kernel panic 2.2.9.1
Barry the kernel group is up to Kernel 5.4.19 which contains a couple of serious fixes, like a Fix for the global-out-of-bounds bug for Intel devices, ALSA fixes, meson code fixes, and fixes for the system clock when in 24hr mode, may be worth restarting.BarryK wrote:Right now I am compiling the 5.4.18 kernel. Also 5.6-rcx has now started so it looks like the 5.5 line is coming to an end at 5.5.3.

Easy 2.2.10 is released, see blog post:
https://bkhome.org/news/202002/easyos-v ... eased.html
I have rushed this out, as wanted to get back to a 5.4.x kernel, and bluetooth is fixed.
@scsijon,
I just missed out on that kernel, have used 5.4.18.
@Rodney,
Haven't tested booting to ram & disable drives. Hope return to 5.4.x kernel has fixed it.
EDIT:
Note, if you downloaded 2.2.10 soon after this announcement, it has a bug with bluetooth. I re-uploaded it, same version number, several hours after the first upload.
@Rodney,
Copy to ram & disable drives works.

Easy2.2.10 First try
To Barry,
I'm having to type this in reliable Pyro read on...
ok you cured the kernel panic I reported earlier,
but your obsession with bluetooth which I don't
have or need in my house, has resulted in standard
cable ethernet not being detected in 2.2.10 presumably
by Network Manager.
I even unchecked bluetooth in the bootup
list and tried to left & right click everything
to force a connect to ethernet, but am left
with the annoying red cross which is reluctant
to go green.
Flaky, very disappointing for me, regards.

2.2.10 Re-upload 12th Feb
To Barry,
As before, no internet, no connection on hard cable ethernet.
Either this "thing" is deceiving you or you are deceiving yourself.
----------------------------------------------
At least the savefile expansion problem on EasyPup
is resolved.
Regards.

EasyOS v. 2.2.10
My BIOS boxes with HDMI nvidia and intel look good.
Booting from usb-2.0 into usb-3.0 looks good too.
Used easydd to write the image onto the usb flash stick.
