Lutz,
Thanks very much for that. Missed out for 2.2.10, but they will definitely be in the next release.

ok you cured the kernel panic I reported earlier,
but your obsession with bluetooth which I don't
have or need in my house, has resulted in standard
cable ethernet not being detected in 2.2.10 presumably
by Network Manager.
I even unchecked bluetooth in the bootup
list and tried to left & right click everything
to force a connect to ethernet, but am left
with the annoying red cross which is reluctant
to go green.
Flaky, very disappointing for me, regards.
I tested 2.2.10 and ethernet and wifi are both working for me.

Are you testing a new usb-stick, or have you updated and existing installation?

I have tested both. Right now running an updated installation on my HP midi-tower desktop, and ethernet is working.

Just now tested seamonkey-in-container, internet works.

EasyOS 2.2.10 downloaded yesterday is having trouble with the clock.

After a poweroff shutdown and starting again from 'cold' it's showing the jwm clock as 00:00.

checking with > desktop set date and time, it suddenly corrects itself, otherwise it stays at 00:00

no errrors in logs anywhere either, almost as if one of the services isn't being started, but which should I look at/for?

Hmmm... when it is showing as 00:00, run "date" in a terminal, see if that reports the correct date and time.

This could be another manifestation of the faster bootup time.
What you could do is slow down the bootup, by inserting "udevadm settle" into /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit, let's see, it is already there, at line 394, commented out -- so uncomment it, then reboot.

That should make sure all the kernel modules are loaded before the desktop starts, and if that fixes your clock then we will know that the cause is some module not having loaded before.

In fact, anyone else who is experiencing odd behaviour that they did not have in earlier releases, could try this.

Yes, sorry had already tried that.

Will test when that workstation is free again as it's in T2 mode and building LLVM at the moment with only python3, and not dropping out so far!

Try>
open a sakura console>
type in the console "reboot" and hit the enter key

and after a half hour waiting, nothing will happen, no mouse, no desktop control, etc., either. But the system is still running in the background, as a video still runs to the end, you have just lost all control of it.

Found by my friends child while watching a video at the time and 'played'!

There is now a Skype SFS:

https://bkhome.org/news/202002/skype-sf ... sypup.html

Does anyone know about using the camera in their computer? It is an eternity since the last time I used a camera, it was a usb thing.
Skype can use a camera, which I suppose should work ok when sfs is loaded on the main desktop, but I have no idea about the situation in a container.

upgraded last night to EasyOS 2.2.10 manually, deleted working session then completed initial setup for clean install. All working very well.

I then downloaded skype.sfs. I haven't done an actual call, but integrated webcam on Dell Latitude 3350 Core i5-5200U was identified and displayed when doing video test.

Thanks Barry, this is excellent.

Big thanks to our friends in the Netherlands!

ibiblio.org is down to 64 kbits/s

https://ftp.nluug.nl/os/Linux/distr/eas ... er/2.2.11/

They offer 1189 Mbits/s - md5 looks good!

Edit: Thu 20 Feb 2020, 19:04 All times are UTC - 4
ibiblio.org looks good now.

strange, not here in australia, i've been getting constants of 1.2 to 1.8 MB/s for a while now, and i'm on a satellite connection so that slows the throuuput down anyway. Or is it your local ibiblio mirror that has problems?

Working-partition ext4 filesystem shuts down unclean

#2316 Post by scsijon »

This has only been happening to me on a memory stick (been happening for a few releases now, but I put it up to the usb driver being shut down before all the 'cache' data being written out, so corrupting data), but I've just realized it never happens on one of my 2 partition hard drive install systems.

As i've just had a hard drive crash-and-burn, i'll try your latest and see what happens between the install on the hard drive and a memory stick.

might be of interest.

2.2.11: just a couple of issues so far. The .iso won't boot - read the warning - previous versions do. Not mission critical but our old friend requiring a second attempt at wifi activation is back. Otherwise, USB .img version works for all my requirements.

Thanks to jamesbond, HelpSurfer has become more stable:

https://bkhome.org/news/202002/helpsurf ... fixed.html

It is amazing what old work is out there, that I have overlooked. Sometimes I see something interesting, and write a note that must check that out, then the piece of paper gets thrown out and I forget about it. I probably did see Jamesbond's blog post back in 2015 then forgot about it.

@BarryK

I read your blog about data corruption upon shutdown. I suggest that upon shutdown, just delete the rw_layer from aufs tree and umount the partition where save folder/file is saved (if possible) before poweroff command was executed. Take a look on /etc/rc.d/rc.shutdown of woof-ce latest commit (last line part)

Barry says: Try it!
Heh heh, I am trying to wean you off EasyPup!

Ok will do. I like both and EasyOS boots, reboots/shutsdown, and sees my usb stick.

I notice the usb stick shows as generic usb in EasyOS at boot. The other shows as "innostore" usb and may be a problem seeing it on boot.

Newest version works well. Still no webcam...grrr

Best,
Eric
