The only thing I know is wrong with ext4 was the 'e2fsck' utility in the initrd was broken for ext4. I have upgraded that utility.
Here is the error message I got when I tried to install to ext4 in easypup 2.2.7.

How do I get the upgrade?

Thanks for all you do Barry! Much Respect!
Thanks very much for posting that window snapshot. That has told me exactly what the problem is.

/usr/sbin/puppyinstaller is an old script, last updated in 2014, and one small update by me in 2020.

It is wanting extlinux 4.x, however EasyPup has 6.03.

What you can try is edit line 1317, change the "4" to "6", see if that fixes it.
Here is /usr/sbin/puppyinstaller with that test for extlinux 4.x removed.

Also, there are some missing icons. These are required in /usr/share/pixmaps/puppy and can be got from woof-CE on github.
Or, I have attached the latest 'puppy' folder as a tarball, which has those missing images.

1. Easypup on usb3 into usb3 socket = no boot (no bootable device found) but shuts down properly.
Boots on second attempt using power button twice. One to shutdown and once to powerup.

2. Easypup on usb3 into usb2 socket = boot but hangs on shutdown
(requires holding the power button until it shuts off)

3. working partition is ext 3.

4. When I click on the "save" desktop icon, the process stops at the yellow dialog box.
It does the save session at poweroff/reboot properly after using the "Menu" shutdown.
The yellow save dialog box stays on until then.

5. Bluetooth daemon does not run thus no bluetooth.(not a priority for me though).

6. VGA webcam not recognized. Skype works but no pictures.

This may be my problematic Acer E17 but if anyone else has the above issues let us know.

Best

Testing from a P4 3ghz dual core box,4gb DDR3 with a frugal install on a Kingston SSD.

Had to remove the popup from startup at boot regarding pctemp as my machine lacks sensors.

One thing missing for me is MTP.The one from the PPM doesn’t work and neither does gmtp.
It all works now after adding three .pet files I located in the software section.

Excellent results so far and very quick.

Thank you

What are you using, EasyPup or EasyOS?

They are getting a bit confused, I will make an announcement about this soon. Yes, there will be an EasyPup 2.2.11, coming soon, but not sure after that.

Ok will do. I like both and EasyOS boots, reboots/shutsdown, and sees my usb stick.

I notice the usb stick shows as generic usb in EasyOS at boot. The other shows as "innostore" usb and may be a problem seeing it on boot.

Newest version works well. Still no webcam...grrr

Best,
Eric

Thank you Barry!! I am just ready to start round two of putting EasyPup through some more heavy lifting and was going to go with 2.2.10 but this just fell into my lap!

I am having some really good luck with and getting good performance from EasyPup and am glad to use this release to continue on my project.

Manual update to frugal install on Sandisk USB Flash drive to Easypup 2.2.11. All went well and easypup working well.

The update of seamonkey to 2.53.1 beta1 was an excellent choice. I was frequently having scrolling issues with graphics heavy websites, temperatures were getting high and the resource indicator in the tray was indicating high usage frequently. I had previously frequently used Opera portable for browsing, due to these issues with seamonkey.

With this updated seamonkey, the resource indicator is hardly raising and CPU core temperature is significantly lower. Seamonkey is functioning very well.

Thanks Barry for this update. This puppy is an excellent choice.

Good! Another thing, myself and esmourguit were experiencing occasional crashes from X to the commandline. Seemingly at random, nothing to do with any particular website.
So far, 2.53.1beta1 is rock solid.

EasyPup version 2.2.11, released February 22, 2020

I'm booting from the 2.2.11.1 easypup dvd with a save file on a 32gb sandisk
flash drive.

Computer
Processor 4x Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-6100T CPU @ 3.20GHz
Memory 3961MB (326MB used)
Machine Type Physical machine
Operating System Puppy Buster64
Date/Time Sat Feb 22 20:37:05 2020

SCSI Disks
hp DVDRW DU8A6SH
SanDisk Ultra

Version
Kernel Linux 5.4.20 (x86_64)

I added a few applications with pets made in easyos and PPM.

The option to increase the size of the savefile is working now.

Works well so far,
Thanks.

2.2.11.1 .iso: works well, very well, if a little slow to boot up. The <connect> icon doesn't work before completing the start-up menu but the main menu SNS works OK [nice to have wifi connected and internet time sync before x-restart ]. On this occasion, the x-restart was not requested, everything was already working?! Like most other distros, even Puppies have succumbed to gross bloat aka Out house-sink syndrome. It would be nice to have a savagely cut version with basics only - deja vu with speedy essentials. No wonder antiX/MX are so popular!

Good comments 2.2.11-1

#60 Post by Rodney Byne »

That was a pleasant surprise Barry,
having migrated from 2.2.10 to 2.2.11-1
and thanks to the continuation of the savefile
on the initial bootup, all my program preferences
and settings were exactly the same as previously.

The newer SeaMonkey perfoms well too.
It doesn't seem to have changed the temperature
readout range from before, as in another reader's remarks.
Apologies, don't recall who that was.
This might be because this laptop is a dual core
so the stresses are shared.

Nice one Barry, it makes a change for once not to
have to complain about anything.
Regards.
