libpangoft2-1.0.so.0.4400.7 swap

#41 Post by davids45 »

G'day Mike W.,

Thanks for the speedy reply from the 'other side' (of the world, that is - you're obviously still alive, despite 'the virus').

I added the 4400 version to /lib/ in Google-Chrome-portable and in Opera-portable and made the link for libpangoft2-1.0.so.0 to point to this 4400 version.

No go in (beta) FossaPup64 but both still fine in BionicPup64. So a Fossa-beta problem?

I did not try these modified portables yet in a SlackoPup64 or a StretchPup64.

Mixed results with libpangoft2-1.0.so.0 versions

#42 Post by davids45 »

G'day again Mike W.,

Quickly tried the 4400 lib in Opera and Google-Chrome portables in a Slacko64-6.9.9.9 (original kernel) and then in a beta BusterPup64 (also original kernel).

SlackoPup64-6999:
4400 version:
Both portables failed to run reporting a problem in the libpangoft2 (screenshot) in the Portable lib directory.
The version in Slacko64 was '3800'.
I then switched back to the '4000' for Opera-portable from the '4400', and now it ran (screenshot). (I'm posting from this Pup in Opera after a restart.)

BusterPup64 (beta):
4400-GoogleChrome - 4000-Opera versions in portables lib directories
Neither ran; the libpangoft2 version in Buster is '4200' and this was the file mentioned by the terminal message (i.e. in its own /usr/lib, not in the sdb3 portable lib directories) (screenshot).

So.....
SlackoPup64 looked in the right place (the portable lib directory) but only liked the '4000' version?
BusterPup64 (like FossaPup64) is not looking first in the intended 'portable' directory for the libpangoft2-1.0.so.0 file but in its own /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu directory (which neither portable liked)?

Still a tin with many nematodes??

64ScPup+6T - runs with portable libpangoft2 (4000)

#43 Post by davids45 »

G'day Mike W.,

Another test:

64SCPup+6T, using JWM (not lx), with 5.4.6 kernel; libpangoft2 version is 3400, in /usr/lib.

Google-Chrome Portable runs with the 4000 version of libpangoft2 but not the 4400 version.

Opera-portable doesn't run but comes up with a new problem, not related to libpangodt2 as far as I can tell.

Terminal test messages:
# google-chrome-portable

My summary:
- google-chrome-portable runs with 4000 version of libpangoft2 in lib, not with 4400 as per above first test (posting now from google-chrome in 64ScPup)
- ScPup built-in = 3400;
- opera fail message - I have no idea of error fix - not a libpangoft2 problem.

Both portables are OK re where this SCPup is looking for their library files; that is, in the Portables lib directory on sdb3, not in the Pup's lib directories.
