Unable to enable DPMS in puppy 2.15CE

I am trying to setup puppy so that my laptop hibernates when left unattended for a few minutes.
I found in the screen saver tab of GTK xset an option to enable DPMS (Energy star). When I click the enabling button and then apply, GTK reports that the settings are applied successfully. However when I restart, DPMS is somehow still disable.
Can somebody tell me how to enable a hibernate function in puppy be it with DPMS or with another program?
