2.16.1 desktop icon placement is lost on reboot

#1 Post by BinaryDemon »

I am a new user, and I apologize if this the incorrect forum for my question.
The beginners forum seemed to be focused on installation / hardware issues.

Where are the 'settings' for Puppy 2.16.1 desktop icon arrangement?
I setup the desktop icons the way I like them- lined up vertically on the left of the screen, but every reboot it realigns them on the right of the screen.

It's not an issue with it not being able to save my settings- all the other settings (wallpaper, installed programs, bookmarks ect) are being successfully stored in my personal file. I'm pretty sure I am fighting some sort of autoarrange, but I cant find any utility or text file that controls it.

Thanks.

Desktop Icon Placement

There was a problem with icons where either deleting or moving them was cancelled on rebooting. A fix was provided for this so if you go to :-

"2.16 Final can not remove icons on desktop * SOLVED *"

this should resolve this matter.

Ian

One of these days I will master the correct way to show a link but you should be able to get this on the search

Scoticus: right click on appropriate link, paste to reply workspace inbetween URL tags like [ u r l ] this [ / u r l]

(extra spaces in the tags intentional only for display purposes ... do not use spaces in practice)

Thanks, alienjeff. I searched for that post (using the forum search) and could not find it. :?

I use this to make hot link: HOT LINK TEXT

Scoticus, if you want to practice your forum posting skills, you can do it in the Aardvark 1 section of the forum. I'll delete it. :)

Thank YOU, Flash. I didn't realize that standard HTML tag conventions for links worked similarly on this format. A tip of the alien aluminum foil helmet ...

Many thanks alienjeff and Flash

Will now make a mental note on a piece of paper for future reference.

I normally use :

http://wellminded.com/puppy/pupsearch.html

for searching Puppy forum as it gives better results. Tried it after posting this message and got in one.
